Double Whammy
I fear that we have now suffered a double whammy from the incompetence of the AFL. First the questionable goal to Melbourne and now the one from yesterday’s Eagles v Bulldogs game. Bulldogs getting over the line after given a goal that was clearly touched has significantly increased the chances that we will miss a finals berth. With the Eagles also likely to now finding it harder to proceed thT is two clubs that are entitled to feel aggrieved.

They got it wrong in my opinion, but people will be thanking them next week when we beat the Eagles.

Re: Double Whammy
We will miss the finals now by half a game. Collingwood to finish 8th and then Dees and Saints half a game out.

Re: Double Whammy
We lost to Melbourne because we were terrible not because of a goal review

Well said ... don’t play the victim ! Get on with it. Win one or both games and the job is done. Let’s be honest make a final and bomb out isn’t overly appealing. Think of it this way ... we have two elimination finals before we get the reward of playing in one. Good for a young team to be put under finals like pressure. Test a few out and see who steps up under the heat.

Re: Double Whammy
I do not like to blame the Umps/decisions - but it is typical that we shoot ourselves in the foot losing the close ones - and it is more evident that the Umps decisions influence the game - decisions like these are not scrutinised if the game is put beyond a doubt early.

Re: Double Whammy
True. There are always what ifs in close ones, I am more disappointed with the results in the North & Freo games when we were well in front.
A positive win/loss ratio is more than I expected even in this covid year. Anyway, we are playing at least 2 finals - a qualifying final this week vs West Coast, and if we lose to WC, an elimination final vs GWS. All good experience.

Re: Double Whammy
Remember a game a couple of years ago where Jack Billings had three goal shots in a row disallowed. Unfortunately all were right - or seemed to be. Our day will come ( sung to a soft samba beat for emotional effect).
