Yorkeys there is no doubt Phillips covers lots of ground and has a go but did you notice how many of his kicks he stuffed or the amount of his handballs that were smothered? He is worth persisting with but WCE are are kick and mark side, so we need players who are good in the air.

Composure is critical. We've had no issue getting the ball inside 50 this year. But if we continue our current trend, McGovern and Barrass will feast and we will get smacked

We played 3 rucks - I say we play another ruckman just to see what happens.
Experiment a little - go in with 4 ruckmen vs WCE>
then ...5 ruckmen the week after.
6 ruckmen plus for the finals.

Agree, I’d have him straight in after quarantine if our season is still alive. Good clearance playerViscount Jeremiah wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 12:46pm If Dunny is fit I would like to see him in.

Dunstan isn’t in quarantine. He went up to Queensland with the squad when the first relocated. He was doing his rehab up there.bigcarl wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 1:08pmAgree, I’d have him straight in after quarantine if our season is still alive. Terrific. I hope they take the chance on him if he’s fit. Underrated player. There are a few other clubs sniffing around for a ready-to-go, strong, big-bodied midfielder.loris wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 1:16pmDunstan isn’t in quarantine. If he hadn’t gone down injured I suspect he’d have been featuring as a replacement for Hannebery anyway

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!
Yep...maybe Marsh for Kent
And OFC as Geary (Off-field Captain) lol
just kidding...of course Gears in field.
I am highly doubtful of Carlisle..based on nothing but some instinct. Our defence was overwhelmed again early and again, Howard is expected to do too much. (Again judged by my supporter peanut brain.)
I finally saw Kent do a few decent things (but I'm not a fan yet) and I saw marsh's nice handball in very heavy traffic, where he had to hold his position under duress, hold his left arm out and strong while swing the right elbow and fist through the ball, against the flow. I think Ross or Hill collected and then completed the chain to Lonie or Sinclair...goal. Saints goal! Goal when we bring the ball out ahead of the pack and the pointy and fleetfooted of us runs it through an empty goalsquare!
Maybe Marsh is neither an airielest nor ground floor player, but sumo wrestler style- the ball tumbling in at waist to shoulder/head height where his shoulders push straight ahead at the ball?
I also notice that in midfield we don't have golder finger tips. Zac looses the ball at his feet in those nano seconds he gets - I suppose very few players can do it and maybe Zac covers so much ground I wouldn't notice that in others because they are not at the drop of the ball.
We need class and skill.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!
Yes, thanks and agree. Naturally my rose glasses see a talent picking up the pace of the game and nuances of close combat. I am sure I have seen Ed take a contested o/h mark (?) and hope to see it again Thursday. Goal square. Our attacking one. I really hope he develops a la Coffield and Clark, even though it spoils the alliteration. Cheers and fingers crossed.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 12:46pm Yorkeys there is no doubt Phillips covers lots of ground and has a go but did you notice how many of his kicks he stuffed or the amount of his handballs that were smothered? Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!
IMO pretty much same as everyone else in King ,Membrey, Carslisle out Abbott ,Marsh & Phillips but all depending on injury to others we don't know of yet. Lonie & Kent did enough to hold their spots. Going to be a very different game Nic Nat back will be a challenge so we really need to stop the quick centre clearance to give our backs a chance to quell the impact of Kennedy,Darling ,Ryan & co. Not being played in Perth is in our favour but we will need to be way better than last week just to be competetive but that's the how it is, we win & we play finals lose & we have to reload & go again against the Giants. Exciting times ahead

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!
Interesting week at selection.
2 talls need to come out but King needs more time on the golf coarse and if Members and Carlisle aren't available then we have a dilemma.
Assume one of those talls is available so Abbot comes out.
Ed should come out but he has something most players don't have currently, energy. We are really skinny for a like-for-like and it's extremely doubtful we are going to experiment with a player who hasn't played a game of anything for over 12 months like Savage. So maybe Parker because he's had a few games so then it's this weeks quandary, Ed versus Parker. Both would give us said energy, both make us wince with ball in hand. Maybe if Marsh does come out becuse 2 talls come in then Parker gets a go but Parker can't play as high up the ground as Ed so we are back to being confused about what to do.

Re: Changes for the West Coast game!!!!!
I've noticed Jones doesn't seem very good below the knees for an agile midfielder- seems to run over the ball a lot, but jeez mustn't grumble. I think the surest pair of hands so far in our midfield is Bytel.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 3:29pmYep...maybe Marsh for Kent

I liked Lonie's energy. Noticing every game players are flat as tacks (not just us - did you see any of the Freo/Melbourne game? Players exhausted just throwing themselves at each other). Anyone who can inject a bit of dash and enthusiasm is going to be useful out there.

Eagles very vulnerable this week. Lost a few players recently and McGovern's thumb is no good. Nic Nat back though.
