Re: Carlisle
People forget end of last year we looked at off loading him and he is in big trouble to stay at Stkilda next year. He has been dropped for 2 weeks now his back and attitude seem major concerns to the football department.
If I was a betting man Carlisle won’t have his contract renewed..
That’s a lot of footballer to replace...198 cm CHB they must have something up their sleeve..
The enigmas of Clavarino and Austin are yet to appear this year either....

Re: Carlisle
I for one hope we keep him
If the rumours of trade are true his attitude must really stink as 200cm rebounding defenders that are a strong intercept mark and precise by foot don’t come around all that often. Sure hes had a couple of stinkers here and there but for the most part he has been very good and is a vital cog to our defensive unit

Re: Carlisle
You're taking the p155 surely? Howard has been a God send to the St Kilda defense.Secret Kiel wrote: ↑Sun 06 Sep 2020 7:49am Carlisle is incredibly important to our side, it is no coincidence that we lose when he doesn't play.
Howard has been a liability at times and so without Jake down back our backline is vulnerable and with Kingy being a work in progress Battle has to go forward often further exposing Howard.

You do understand playing as a forward is one of tue big reasons he wanted to get out of efcHarves Man wrote: ↑Sun 06 Sep 2020 12:10pmHe is? What? What are you talking about? They had hurley down back and carlisle was secondary to him - they tried him up front of goals and he started cracking up

Well I just assumed insight might go over your head if you are questioning Jakes importance to the team.Harves Man wrote: ↑Sun 06 Sep 2020 12:10pmHe is? What? What are you talking about? Our flag chances are significantly reduced with him not in the team, , Howard has a way to go before we can say goodbye to Jake from the team so there's your insight.

Re: Carlisle
How does Carlisle not get a game in that side today?
What has he done to be so far in the bad books?

Re: Carlisle
Someone said he’s injured, but the club had him “omitted” last week. I guess you have to take the club at its word.

Injured would make sense, omitted does not.

Re: Carlisle
He will play next week. Darling and Kennedy to contend with. Plus Oscar Allen. Carlisle, Howard and Wilkie will have their cut out.
I would bring in
- Membrey, King, Carlisle and Roberton
- Marsh, Abbott, 2 others ?

Read somewhere that he was back sore so that's why he didn't play today

Re: Carlisle
We definitely had a match up - Lewis was with Howard most of the arvo and Tim O’Brien could’ve definitely used a tall forward on him.
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Carlisle
Are you questioning why I think he is our best CHB or why I think he is hopeless up forward or both?

Re: Carlisle
Sorry Gershwin, I should have made that more clear. I am of the same view as you that Carlisle is our best CHB at the moment - I am a fan (for what it's worth).Gershwin wrote: ↑Sun 06 Sep 2020 7:56pmAre you questioning why I think he is our best CHB or why I think he is hopeless up forward or both?
However, I was curious as to why you don't see him as much of a forward? I didn't recall him playing forward whilst being at the Saints, so wondered if you had seen him as a bomber playing there and if so, would love to hear more from you, about how you think he played when moved forward?

Re: Carlisle
His last game - against Brisbane - was poor from memory. Looked all at sea at times against the Lions’ height. Maybe the club is demanding more from a talented and well-paid player.
He’s done his penance and may be back as soon as this week, although we do have other options like Roberton if we need some height in defence.
