Re: Trade Billings
I said two years ago that he was a boy playing a man’s game. Haven’t changed my view.

Very selective mate. In all the games Sinclair and Billings have played together who has played better, more often? Then work that to their salary.Teflon wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 12:35amI do like Steel’s stats ....effective tooGhost Like wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 11:58pmI'll play. 1. 2nd most disposals
2. 3rd average disposals
3. 5th contested posessions
4. 1st metres gained
5. 4th most tackles
6. 3rd score involvements
Shall I go on?
This should be enlightening.
That said Jack is certainly tradeable for the right price and that would be a very good midfielder
Sorry 7 years seen enough he is in his prime and doesn’t do it often enough or when you need him too
He’s a bit downhill skier for mine Jack
I think we can cover a wing/HFF from Clarke or Coffiekd possibly over time
Sinclair was better than Billings tonight Hill too
Our best half backs will now take his spot? How does that work? Savage, McKenzie, Geary now take their spots? Does that mean they are all better than Jack?
This is what I mean by not creating a hole to fill a hole. Billings did not cost us tonight or last week.

Re: Trade Billings
He is playing tired. You could see he lacked energy tonight. We play a high intensity game style and as a wingman he has covered huge metres this year. Give him a rest and he will bounce back well !

Re: Trade Billings
That Ball through his legs was rather comical in a tragic sort of way, almost a case of too much haste in spending it before he got it.
To put it into perspective though I didn't see him in any acts of "self preservation" a la number 8 in the 2nd/3rd quarter?
Probably his best game(8) for us but he dead set heard footsteps!

No 1 player “costs you the match” it’s a team game with lots of moments that’s absurdGhost Like wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 12:47amVery selective mate. Again, I think I said bring in a new best available mid if it meant we had to play a Coffiekd or Clarke on a wing and introduce Roberton back into defence I’m ok with that???
New player
Hole filled
Clarke also gets up the ground closer to the midfield as a next step
Happy day’s ?
I never said Sinclair was a better player - he was better tonight
Whose being selective???????

Probably his best game(8) for us but he dead set heard footsteps!
Broke the lines going forward a few times and always hit a target
He’s not there to be Steven baker

Did not expect him to be on the bottom of packs but you can't seriously avoid all possibility of body contact,Teflon wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 1:25amNo 8 was good tonightwhiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 12:52am That Ball through his legs was rather comical in a tragic sort of way, almost a case of too much haste in spending it before he got it.

Singled out by coach in his presser for giving the team real run - we look dangerous going forward when he has the ball in his hands
I saw him spoil in defence tonight but yeah he’s not a Hayes type I’m ok with that
If he played all remaining games like tonight I’d be happy

Re: Trade Billings
IMO the best game he has played for us. Definitely an outside player but he always was & we did recruit him for his pace & skill not his ability to win contested ballTeflon wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 1:25amNo 8 was good tonightwhiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sun 30 Aug 2020 12:52am That Ball through his legs was rather comical in a tragic sort of way, almost a case of too much haste in spending it before he got it.

Re: Trade Billings
Billings is soft as a MARSHMELLOW
Trade him while we can get some value for him .
How often are his possessions effective to hurt the opposition.
Will never win a game for us and in my opinion very over rated and not upto leadership material.
.BOOM BOOM.

Re: Trade Billings
Any player is tradable for the right player. e.g. i'd give up billings and our top draft pick in a second for a kelly type, throw in sinclair as steak knives - that's all sincs is in comparison to billings.
billings is fine, not the player we'd hoped for, but amongst our best.

Did you read Bob Murphy's article in The Age? Re: Trade Billings
I think he just doesn't know he position yet. I'd like to see him given a permanent role somewhere for an entire season. Rather than fwd, midfield, wing, back in one game.

Re: Trade Billings
I suspect we will be disappointed with any offer for Jack - just think who is like for like. Maybe Phillips from Collingwood, and what would you be prepared to give up for him? Amazingly even Jack Newnes is more value to his team than Billings. Any of the wingers from the top teams are much more influential than Jack. I doubt Jack would make Richmond's top 22 for example. (for those who rate him, who would he displace in the Tigers team). He would barely attract a late second round pick.
Not a reason that would prevent putting him up for trade if it helps us move up the draft order.
It is time for our club to look to improve year on year. We have a number of potential A grade players. We need more, Billings will never be A grade and the time to move is now.
