Goal review cheating a new AFL low
A incorrect call that hands Melbourne a goal and our season is on the line. Touched as seen by everyone and still give them a goal.

It was way over the line. It's just that for some reason there wasn't a side on shot.

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
It was a goal every day of the week.
We had plenty of chances to win tonight but kept kicking it to May's advantage in the forward line for the whole game.
Four losses by a goal or less tells me that we desperately need an elite midfielder - someone that will lower their eyes when kicking it into forward 50.
The difference tonight was Petracca - end of story.

Soft call got it wrong and review confirmed it.

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
goal or not, would only be professional that they knew for sure right, 2 cameras cant afford to take them to a ground that needs to be set up and approve for AFL footy.
really poor
But thats not why we lose, we just kept sitting it on kings head (and a few others) terrible.

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
The review could not prove that he touched it, but in any event it was a foot over the line.
You would be on better grounds with the two bad decisions in the first quarter which resulted in a goal.
Th Melbourne guy who was whacked as he was marking might have grounds for grievance as well - we scored a goal out of that.

Ump said over. Nothing shown contradicts.
But highlights again the micky mouseness of the AFL. No line camera. Really?

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
Typical ridiculous thread from the usual.
Umpire a metre away called it a goal, looked like a goal on replay, but some people just have to have a whinge!

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
The umpire wanted to know was it touched. If the bloke a meter away said the ball was over the line di if he touched it or not it’s irrelevant fair enough but he didn’t. Was the ball touched?
Yes it was do it’s a point.
Umpire got it wrong

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
It was clearly a goal. The real problem is that the truly stupid Luke Darcy called the bounce a leg break when in fact it was a wrong-un ( Petracca being a right arm bowler ).

The Petracca - McCartin story will never end.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sat 29 Aug 2020 11:10pm It was a goal every day of the week.

And neither should it.
The stupidity involved in our selection should never be forgotten.

Goal or Behind it could well be the decision that decides if the Saints play finals or not.

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
How can posters on this forum not realize the OP is trolling and taking the piss?
So it’s clearly a goal
So we are to believe poster has vision that contradicts goal umpire who was 1mt away from the action and perfectly positioned who referred his decision as is normal in this circumstance to the review system.
And this vision is also better than that reviewed and shown live, because I was watching in my media room and none of the five people watching with me could make an accurate assessment.
For the record we all thought it was a goal but footage not conclusive.
I’ve got to hand it to the poster, he has been winding this forum up for years and people still bite

Once again you fail to follow logic. Umpire a meter away knew the ball went over he wasn’t sure if it was touched. Review confirmed it was touched.
Correct procedure was ignored

As Ratts said it is what it is but guess what the guy closest to the ball had to say.

Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
I wouldn't call it cheating - The Goal Umpire was right there and he said it was a goal, so we have to swallow that because of the lack of positive evidence. We have a lot more problems than that. We'll have Roughead sitting on the sidelines in our closing games, all we can do is hope he can help us with some of our issues.

Howard was also right there and he said he touched it. Was quite upset really. Re: Goal review cheating a new AFL low
reviews showing equal time frame suggets it was indeed touched. like most i thought it looked clearly over on first play, but what are you gonna to. s*** happens. umps make mistakes all the time. part of our game. but yes, the afl, like with the 2009 grand final, will make changes based on us getting screwed. such is life. we should have wrapped this game up long before that goal.
