He needs to do better though.
For a guy in his prime drafted 2013 that’s simply not enough
Trade fodder for mine
Why keep a guy who can inconsistently only play half forward FFs?
We need midfield class he ain’t up to it when you need him
Carlyle too
We can’t stand still now have to go forward and time to be ruthless
I thought he plays wing.

I think you're being a bit harsh. Having said that, I take your point; he’s tradeble for the right price but I think most of the list is apart from a few.
Billings does normally play wing, but for some reason was shifted half forward, and didn't get near it. Went back to wing/HF after half time and did much better. Absolute class, something we have very little of, and essential for the next few years.
He was shifted HF cause to 3 qtr time he hadn’t touched it!
Not sure what return that gets us but when Lions were on a roll Jack was nowhere
He’s tradeable absolutely
Sorry Teffers but you are being ridiculously harsh on Billings

Every team in the league would be lining up to pluck Billings ...... every team!!

Dude has credits aplenty - so he had a couple of down quarters probably trying to shed a hard tag but then he nearly won it for us in the last

Trading Billings? ........ Nah thanks
Can’t agree Devils
He’s just gone awol too much for mine and he ought to be in his prime right now
If GWS are one of those sides you mention lining up to take him......for J Kelly I’m all ears
We have a great young side here well balanced we just need some mid quality and we could really give it a shake
We can’t afford to stagnate and put saints players on pedestals again.....time to be ruthless and smart
Billings gives Gubby something to work with at the table.....Jake C too
If going awol is being in the top 25 in the league for disposals then I am plucked turkey

As for getting Kelly - GWS are the ones who have the bargaining power - two 1st round top 10 picks absolute minimum or a gun player and a top 10 pick - and i would bet Billings would be just as productive as Kelly down the line

Key comparative stats

Billings - DispAv 20.1 - MarkAv 4.4 - TackAv 2.6 - Goals 10
Kelly - DispAv 23.3 - MarkAv 3.3 - TackAv 4.3 - Goals 6

Saints sit 6th ...... GWS sit 11th

What’s stats you referring to?
Footy wire has Billings at 48 for disposals Kelly at 14

This year Kelly leads Billings in
Disposals
Tackles
Contested possessions
Effective disposals
Disposal efficiency (Jacks a machine here!! We are lead to believe)
Inside 50s
Clearances

Yet somehow magically Jack is gonna burst past him????
I do love how saints fans still pedestal our players.......
Kelly isn’t a part time HFF/Wing cause he can’t play mid either.....oh btw.....both drafted 2013 2 and 3 ......I know who’d I’d take in a flash....

Who cares where GWS and Saints sit now on the ladder what’s tha got to do with player comparison ?

Billings sits top 25 for number of overall disposals - even Dunstan is above him when you consider averages

So Kelly averages 3 possessions more than Billings a game ........ and apparently Billings aint even a mid just lowly wingman

Billings 10 goals Kelly 6 .....scores on the board please ? Saints 6th and Giants 11th

So in your dream world we give up Billings for say ...... a 1st round pick (cause he is only just that good)

Then we use that pick (maybe top 10) and our other 1st round pick (not top 10) to get Kelly but hold on Kelly is contracted and Giants want 2 top 10 picks which we don't have ........

Ok so say Giants go for it anyway then we get Kelly but lose Billings and a 1st round pick ...... but hold on we still need to get in 2 more gun mids cause that's what everyone is saying we need .....

So ok we can use our 1st round pick ...... err but hold on that's gone .... ok lets use next years 1st rounder ..... but then that will mean that we will not have used a 1st round pick in 3 years ..... so we have no youth coming through and we now how that fks lists down the line

Yes but we have Kelly who will save us like he saved GWS ..... yeah nah

Billings ain't a stoppage mid never has been ...... he is outside wing

Again Kelly averages 23 disposal - Billings 20

Billings 10 goals Kelly 6

Saints 6th GWS 11th

Get Kelly by all means but please tell me how we do it?

Ok so Billing’s now ain’t a stoppage mid but he’s still a mid who just happens to spend all day on the wing and HF?

Ok...more of this modern mid stuff lol

If I get Kelly (a genuine mid....not some quasi modern mid..) and lose an outside HF/Wing why do I still need 2 more mids?? I’m confused

I think we can cover our outside wing/HF who had 5 touches to 3qtr time today ....we can’t replace a truly elite mid....

When did i say he was a stoppage mid? ...... and yes more of this modern mid stuff

Billings covers ground between the back line (yes he is seen down back) and forward line - that's pretty mid field to me

Billings gets close to as many possessions as any what you consider a "pure mid" in the game

Billings kicks goals from his position playing in the mid section of the ground

Billings is currently equal 4th on goals kicked from those players who generally play in the mid section of the ground between the arcs

Its really not that hard - anyway how are we getting Kelly?

Oh I see....Billings runs through the midfield now so he’s a mid?? Modern?
Love the “he’s sometimes seen down back” just not today..
Anyhoo given you’re telling me Billings will go past Kelly then getting Kelly should be easy right???? I mean a straight swap in your world would do it ?? Or maybe they need to offer us Kelly plus another player to balance it out? Lol

GC ain’t trading Ben King either but that does t mean clubs and players don’t sound each other out
Anyhow we’ll need to offer quality to get a top shelf mid so who you offering up Dippa??
Or just keep them all and extend the salary cap for saints only?

https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_ ... 1=S&fid2=S

Josh Kelly's stoppages clearances are double and centre clearances nearly double that of Jack Billings

If a mid doesn't line up in the centre then he isn't a mid as far as I'm concerned

And.. contested possessions (which is where a mid earns his keep) are 40% better than Billings

I don't care what Fagan or anyone else says about all their missed opportunities.

We should have won this game. We had them on toast.

My guess is that if GWS were to trade Kelly they'd be looking for high end DPs as the only reason they'd let Kelly go is salary cap issues and the last thing they'd need is to replace a million dollar player with an 800k player - no salary cap relief for them.
So in likelihood we wouldn't have to offer them a quality player just some DPs they'd agree to.

Long
King
Billings (over 4 quarters)
Battle

Total 10

Up for debate

Butler
Paton
Hill
Carlisle

As Ratts said in his presser we dominated the last quarter but couldnt score. We tried to kick the perfect goal by handballing backwards rather than having a quick snap. There were 5 or 6 chances to take a shot which in the end was snuffed out by Brisbanes numbers. Sometimes players just have to slap it on the boot rather than hoping for that front on shot.

Brisbane had more shots on goal but all the other stats were even, we were in it and with some luck could have won. We looked like we were playing quite nervously for sometime and if we meet them in the finals Im confident we will knock them off.

Pressures on to have a good win against Melbourne this week. Its a shame Dunstan is not ready as this is one game I would bring him in to match their size in the midfield.

Brians' coach is a real asswipe. Ratts gave credit a couple of times to the bears, whereas the arsehole opposition coach merely said the game should have been over at three quarter time.Never gave any credit to his opposition.Real dog in the manger creep.

To be fair it was a s*** handball from Steele
To be fair he had an eternity. He could have balked, fended off, spun round, or just plain tucked it under his arm and arched his back

He didn’t!!
bulls***
I finished watching the replay just now. People with rose coloured glasses will always defend Sebby

Any neutral supporter will tell you he had 3-4 steps after receiving the footy. He had a good game and did a good job on Neale, but in this instance he stuffed up because he wanted to kick with his left foot. It happens to him regularly
