Re: Changes vs Dopers
He was poor AND selfish tonight. The lot of a small fwd. so hard at times to get the ball that you start worrying about your own game before the team. Playing on after a free given in front of goal was terrible enough. Not making the distance from 30m out nearly worse.
And they were the only times I noticed him.

Re: Changes vs Dopers
Although some look tired and need a rest as Ace said "Don't change too much of what has been successful most weeks, just tinker at the edges"
Out: King (rest), Carlisle (rest/kick up the bumb), Geary (omitted), Kent/Phillips/Marsh
In: Clavarino (there shorter, keeps structure, & he's surely faster than Carlisle)/Roberton, Ryder, Jones, Ross (if right)
B: Paton - Howard - Wilkie
HB: Coffield - Clavarino/Roberton - Clark
C: Hill - Jones - Billings
HF: Hind - Membrey - Butler
F: Gresham - Marshall - Battle
R: Ryder - Steele - Bytel
Int: Long - Ross - Sinclair - Kent/Phillips/Marsh
Note:
- Long showed great intensity compared to team mates, but needs a lock down role and/or be thrown into the midfield to show some agression
- Are Ross & Bytel to similar? I dont know
- Battle or Marsh to play King role

I would don’t see Philips as good enough yet but of course liked his goals. I might try Dr. Robert.
I definitely don’t see Marsh as good either.
Keep Hind, at least he was involved.
Why do you think Battle needs a rest. I think he’s showing promise, just good enough or better than some.
Our champ Butler has, by my reckoning , three games MIA so far, but so did Milney so let’s hope he bounces back.
Playing King is out “now pain, next gain” strategy. Gee , the fellow has had a pile of expectations placed upon him tho.
That would be my only rationale for resting him,
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Changes vs Dopers
1000% yes to this. Gives us versatility - great intercept mark and also, excellent kick for goal
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Changes vs Dopers
Need Geary for defensive forward on Saad, Got matchup wrong last night he if good on the smaller rebound players - Johannison, Dogherty, but intercept markers too small.
Ins : agree with
Out: Paton, Hind, Marshall (looked sore )
6 day break so plenty of rest, other options - Hind - poor last night but really good 2 games ago, King - Perhaps a break as top heavy with Marshall (if play) , King, Membrey, Battle, Ryder, Phillips - kicked 2 goals so would be unlucky even though not in best 22
Good to have options not like some clubs .

Re: Changes vs Dopers
Play your best available, if so Ryder, Ross and Jones in. Out Hind, ?, ?.
Who is more sore might be a criteria for the other two.
Bytel and Phillips stay in, back 6 set, so Kent looks shaky. And, I hesitate to say, Geary rested: personal reasons and managed, noting VC returns.

Re: Changes vs Dopers
Howard might need a rest. Don't think he's missed a match this year. Ratts gave him a breather and put him forward...huge fail as far as his kicking was concerned
Paton, Coffield, and maybe Tim Membrey sit out if all 3 are showing signs of fatigue. Marsh, Robbo, Savage and maybe Clavarino or Austin to replace them.
Carlisle to go up against his old side if his horse steroid levels are high
I'd play RoMa in the forward line predominantly and of course bring in Paddy
Sebby may need to replace one of the mids...maybe JB or even Brad Hill if Hill is fatigued or sore. We can't afford to take in players who are fatigued...no matter what their reputation
Wouldn't mind Longy playing that high half forward role against the druggies or maybe Marsh gets a go.
I noticed Ratts was so desperate for a scoring opportunity he wanted Long in the center stoppages and Ben got a centre clearance, then 5 minutes later he bobbed up in the forward line and Longy dished off an assist...which turned out to be a behind due to our poor kicking.
Parker and Lonie a chance, but I'd prefer Kent and Butler deep with Billings and Long as the 4 smalls
Anyway...all pure speculation because I wouldn’t have a clue how they’ve all pulled up.

Sounds like Gresham might be out - potential stress fracture in his back according to the news.

Re: Changes vs Dopers
An eight point game especially after the draw last night. Pity Suns didn't win.
We must pick our best and fittest side. Don't rest anyone just for the sake of it. And we have had an extra 2 day break on Essendon.
