Draw round 14-17
Based on the number of "Home" matches we have been drawn to play so far until round 13 (5/13), we will be drawn to play at least 3 "Home" matches in the last 4 rounds.
Hawks, Giants, Demons and Eagles still to play.
It seems unlikely (25%) that we will have to travel to Perth "Away" vs the Eagles.
If we avoid this road trip I think we can finish top 4.
Thoughts anyone?

Re: Draw round 14-17
Although we only play 17 games there will actually be 18 rounds with some clubs already had their bye round.

Re: Draw round 14-17
If the AFL wants us to play in Perth, then we will play in Perth. The other three games will all be at neutral venues so they can arbitrarily make us the home team.

I live in Perth. Club used to come 2x a year sometimes, but only once in the last few years.
Been a member for years, I want to see them at Optus, but only if doesn't hurt their chances of staying in the top few

While true we have already played Freo.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 08 Aug 2020 6:15pm If the AFL wants us to play in Perth, then we will play in Perth. The other three games will all be at neutral venues so they can arbitrarily make us the home team.
The normal format is that 2 teams fly in and play each other as quarantined clubs, and then with Freo and WCE. Though Swans have already played WCE.
Also we are still to play Hawks, Giants and Demons. WCE already has fixtured games with all 3. So for us to hub in Perth we would need 3 other teams, or a bye with a long gap between games. So that would Saints with 15 days between games. With compressed games that seems less likely, though maybe AFL will go back to normal for last few rounds so that teams enter the finals ok.
If we were going to fly into Perth for 14 day quarantine you would think that our game against the Lions would not be the Sunday (We play the Sunday prior and so AFL could have had us on the Fri or Sat ).
Hopefully WCE is our final game of the H&A at the GABBA and WCE fly up to play us and the hub for Qld based finals.
Might be just wishful thinking on my part

Re: Draw round 14-17
West Coast have Carlton Hawthorn and GWS in the next 3 weeks
They then have left to play
St Kilda, Richmond, North, Essendon, Western Bulldogs
We have travelled twice to Adelaide already - have any of those others travelled west yet?

WCE are going to have to travel at least once is what I heard the other day.

Also thread title really needs to be Draw round 14-18 (as clubs have had a bye and Dons and Dees have to have their make up game)

Re: Draw round 14-17
The issue the AFL still has to deal with is WA's requirement for anyone from another state to isolate for 14 days in WA before playing West Coast or Fremantle.
I hope that will prevent a grand final in Perth.
If West Coast is entitled to be home team in this Grand Final there will be enormous WA media pressure that this Grand final be played there.
But if the AFL does play the GF there just the once, their media maggots will always scream for home Grand Finals to be played in Perth.
The same will come from SA.
The Melbourne Cricket Club maintains a 100,000 stadium in Melbourne and carries a construction debt of hundreds of millions because the grand final and a number of other finals are guaranteed to be played there regardless of who is the home team.

Re: Draw round 14-17
Based on this analysis Devilhead, it looks to me unlikely that St Kilda will travel to Perth (enduring 2 week quarantine) to play just 1 game against the Eagles, as all of the other teams remaining to play against St Kilda have already played their matches against the WA clubs in Perth, which includes Hawthorn, Giants and Melbourne.

Well that's very good news - unless of course they factor in a bye for us during the 2 week quarantine but I can't see that happeningSanctorum wrote: ↑Sun 09 Aug 2020 12:23pmBased on this analysis Devilhead, it looks to me unlikely that St Kilda will travel to Perth (enduring 2 week quarantine) to play just 1 game against the Eagles, as all of the other teams remaining to play against St Kilda have already played their matches against the WA clubs in Perth, which includes Hawthorn, Giants and Melbourne.

In the after match interview Shead said that they only had 2 more in Perth and then would be travelling.

Re: Draw round 14-17
Like every other Victorian Sainter, I've missed the simple joy of just "going to the footy".
Meeting up with my pal Tom for pre-game drinks and a chinwag, being with other Sainters behind the goal at the Lockett end, and either (a) enjoying the win (b) mourning a loss. However, this pandemic has effected more than just sport, so (for me) its a matter of "biting the bullet" and just barracking from a distance for now.
ONE wonderful development from the AFL "relocation process" (at least as far as I'm concerned) has been the amount of games that our wonderful and loyal Queensland Saints Supporters Group have been able to watch "in the flesh". I've had the pleasure of attending some of the games in Qld over the years and the pre-game functions put on by our Queensland colleagues have been MAGIC!
Every cloud has a silver lining they say, and I'm very happy for the Qld Sainters....... AND grateful for their great support!
GO Saints!! (To Hell with the Rest!)
