Effort.

Absolute lack of it. We’re choosing when and when not to go, it should be 100% of the time.
Sure Chuck.

How long did it take you to dig that up?

Our effort lifted in the last 10 minutes, that's why we didn't lose. If our effort was at 100% the whole game we would have won by 8+ goals.

Won on turnovers.
Good point as that was the game and we won’t get away with that against better sides who don’t turn it over and make us pay
We are an elite mid or 2 off imo

We could not capitalise on the efforts of our rucks - just in the wrong spots to get first hands (and where we really missed Hannebery)

This put the pressure on our defence, which responded - so Carlisle, Howard, Wilkie, Clark, Coffield, Paton and Long

That said we gifted goals with poor ball handling including a couple of speculative over the head efforts which were run onto

Plus a couple of Umpire decisions such as Ryder being deemed a late hit and downfield and Howard for contact on King (so 2 from soft frees which could have been telling. And Long for incorrect disposal plus a few others not replicated the other way)

I agree we are a class mid down - Jones could not get clear, Sinclair too light to be in there and Gresham still learning the craft so a lot resting on Steele

The rest look pretty well covered - it is the midfield and rotations thru there

Could Battle become a mid?

That said, Marshall is extraordinary and will only get better

Not sure why Clark can't go in the middle occasionally. They say he is Pendlebury like but he plays in the back line.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
