Love the enthusiasm between Ratten and the players.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
Smash them in the ruck and and around the packs. They had better height around the ground - not much we can do about that. And, we had our usual accuracy. Isn't Dan this best pick up of the decade?

Best win since that come from behind vs the Bulldogs all those years ago for mine. Winning twice in Adelaide, beating the top team, and getting into the top 4. Well done lads, love your work.

Bronze statues of our entire backline to be unveiled at Moorabbin, please. The back six were magnificent, talk about courage under fire!

And the one behind was a pretty fair effort by Butler from the pocket that hit the post !

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
The most impressive thing IMO is that all the young players are playing so maturely , years beyond their ages and experience
We won everywhere ... all over the ground

Yeah, the Bulldogs win in 2015 was a ripper. Tonight, however, was more important as far as the season goes.

Gears and Wilkie both very understated players... rarely sighted themselves but almost never see their opponent go off the chain either.

Any other ground, or any other time of day, that would have curved through - the dew on the ground made it skid through

Round 2 - 14.4
Round 4 - 15.3
Round 8 - 12.1
If you like a random stat or two, that ladies and gentlemen equals 41 goals 8.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
This is a massive night for the club. We played finals type footy against the top team in their own backyard and smashed them in the end. The confidence this will bring this group will be immense. Ratts has his players singing from the hymn book. Great win.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
Huge win - what a turnaround from 2 weeks ago
That said we are somewhat lucky that Port didn't kick straighter and hit the scoreboard in the first half of the third quarter
Either way it should be a gigantic confidence builder and shows what can happen when you stick to the task - the last quarter was absolutely dominant

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
We need to back it up though over the next 4 weeks - can't expect to win all but 3 wins should be expected and it would set us up for finals

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
Fantastic, boys! I only saw a few minutes of the game plus 7 minutes of highlights but it looked like a highly skilled, fast game almost finals like. Was it the best game so far this season?

Re: Match Thread Saints v Port Round 8 2020
Most definitely.
The effort was a 4 quarter effort and we had good contributors all over the field.
3rd quarter when we were bombarded relentlessly by Port but we stood up and held them out was fantastic and left them deflated mentally and physically.
Then we got our rewards in the fantastic last quarter.
Hopefully we will look back on this game as THE turning point.
