Let’s talk umpires and cheating
We all saw it just a blatant display of cheating against a team that lead from start to finish. Collingwood got 10 more frees Thursday night. The defence first to the ball you get the frees. We had 10 less frees that’s 10 less.
No one can defend that rubbish we saw tonight.

Yes, but you watch. The usual suspects will come on here and try to defend the indefensible.CURLY wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:06pm We all saw it just a blatant display of cheating against a team that lead from start to finish. The umpiring was bad.
But explain how our 5 shots at goal from frees and Tex’s clear mark right in front not paid fits into the conspiracy?

Can anyone explain the holding the ball rule?

Re: Let’s talk umpires and cheating
Explain Tex’s two goals from putrid non existent frees. The two holding the ball frees and goals that both were just blatantly not there. They got 10 more frees but chased arse most of the night.

I, however, know the secret!
There are 3 umpires - One was paying everything - one was paying nothing - and the other a little from column A and a little from column B. (Like 3 siblings)
Quite simply - these 3 umpires are not the best in the league - Us vs the bottom of the ladder team did not warrant that - so we got 3 that were not on the same page!

The last Tex free in the pocket. You. Would. Have. To. Be. Kidding. Tex knew the fix was on and flopped like a sinking soufflee. Disgraceful.

Re: Let’s talk umpires and cheating
A shocking display tonight but I thought a couple of vital decisions our way in the last quarter which were line ball clinched the game for us.
But they had a huge influence on Adelaide's score before then.

The holding the ball rule is all over the shop all because Clarko had a sook because his team is crap.

Happy to talk umpiring and how deplorable it was. In fact it was disgraceful and embarrassing for the AFL. However I don't believe they cheat.

[*]
Clarko sooked about it and the AFL jerked its knee as per usual. The league wants to open the game up, but this is not the way to go about it.
The reason the game is often so crowded and defensive is a direct result of the AFL pandering to the coaches and allowing them four on the bench and 90 interchanges. It’s time for the league to wrest back control of the game from the coaches.
I hate it. It penalises the guy trying to make the play.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:15pm Can anyone explain the holding the ball rule?

We got one dubious free in front the second on to Kent.
Gresham in the back easy call
Kent tackled Kelly when he slid on the ground
Hartigan handballs to the behinds missed 100% free
Tex got two both ridiculous. The free against Wilkie ridiculous the free against Gears even worse.
The free against Howard was there but didn’t pay one to us
Butler pinned 3 times for deliberate none even remotely close.

Re: Let’s talk umpires and cheating
What about Hill tackled for about 3 seconds and they still gave him an opportunity to get rid of it? Gresham dropped straight to his knees. I wouldn't have paid it.CURLY wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:37pmThe_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:24pmBut explain how our 5 shots at goal from frees and Tex’s clear mark right in front not paid fits into the conspiracy?

Nothing is black and white. It's all in the eye of the umpire. Cheating is a ridiculous, emotive, even childish term to use. Umpiring was terrible tonight, no doubt, but cheating?? Come on.

Re: Let’s talk umpires and cheating
Well the AFL got what they deserved.
A winless Adelaide playing at home in front of their home crowd who have been starved of attending games.
Then they compounded the problem by appointing a set of officials who obviously have no feel for umpiring the rules together.
The result was the abomination of adjudication handed out by the 3 clowns.
I don't believe a single player or coach had any idea what decision was going to be paid when they heard the umpire's whistle blown.
It was seriously chook-lotto out there tonight.
Cheating - no (not to the level of Whispers in the Sky)
Incompetent - yes

I missed the dubious free to Kent. Was it the one where the hippy jumped on his back or the one where the guy went to ground and made no effort to get rid off it?CURLY wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:37pmThe_Dud wrote: ↑Mon 20 Jul 2020 11:24pmBut explain how our 5 shots at goal from frees and Tex’s clear mark right in front not paid fits into the conspiracy?

Sometimes I suggest instinct kicks in. The see a fee and pay it. The four frees to Adelaide that were all ridiculous they had a choice but chose to favour one team.

The umpiring was very poor but yeah, calling it out is a real conspiracy.

Re: Let’s talk umpires and cheating
I dont believe umps are cheating but the standard is just awful. Until we have full time umpires, the standard will stay awful.
Don't know if it's feasible. Maybe there should be enough so there is always at least one full time ump at every game and the rest part timers. It couldn't hurt.
