Re: Scratch match summary
Anyone know what keeps Phillips out of the side? The couple of games he played, he seemed totally poised at the level. He's fast and tough and he wants it... is he too cocky maybe? Anyone know?

Well I don't know is that right? The only stats I can see on him have him in his first game going at 84.something% efficiency and last year against Collingwood at 100%.

Re: Scratch match summary
Geez by that article... everyone seemed to star.
Also, so many senior players in the seconds - Brown, Robbo, Web, Battle, McKenzie, Savage, Dunstan... makes the senior team’s performance against the Pies even more deplorable. Such a fit team with no injuries and we dish out crap.

Kicks 15 meters lacks penetration so just kicks to very safe options.

Re: Scratch match summary
Surely the selectors want to pick Sam asap just to hear the name Alibakas said over and over. Better ill-iteration than yelling ABBOTT, but he looks likely as well.

From what I saw of him at Morwell pre-season, a bad hair do that would suggest he is prone to drinking his own bath water!

Re: Scratch match summary
A bad hairdo didn't stop Fraser Gehrig from banging through few hundred goals. If we're going to judge players by their hair, why don't we just recruit barbers instead of footballers. To me, Phillips has plenty to offer. He has a huge tank and knows where to position himself on the ground. In the seven games he played in 2018, he averaged 20 possessions. Pretty damn good for a first year player. We have midfielders in our team who've played 100 games who can't consistently collect 20 possessions in a game. With a few more games under the belt Phillips could become the next Leigh Montagna.

Re: Scratch match summary
Phillips is an ordinary kick with ordinary pace... Has a tank but that doesn't mean a lot when u lack other two

The reference to Austin is noted
As I have put on this site before Austin was highly regarded at Alberton lacking only some weight (but a kid)
After an injury ravaged 2019, his performances will be of interest in 2020

Re: Scratch match summary
I think he's just behind too many on our list and should explore his options elsewhere. Austin is in between being a KPD and a general defender. His competition:To the top wrote: ↑Fri 26 Jun 2020 11:26pm The reference to Austin is noted

KD:
Howard
Carlisle
Wilkie
Battle
Brown
Clavarino
Joyce
GD:
Geary
Long
Clark
Paton
Coffield
Roberton
Marsh
Savage
Webster
McKenzie
Including Austin that's 18 defenders vying for 6-7 spots in the 22. Austin isn't a bad player but I don't see him breaking into our defence.
