What do you mean has had his chance? He was our best player against the Roos in a game that at least 5-7 others should have been dropped ahead of him

Re: Team v Dogs
Some ballsy selections finally. I'd still prefer Battle in over Ryder but overall I'm pretty happy with the team. It's a much more skilful side than we're used to.
I'm expecting to see Clark move into the middle with Dunstan out. Geary, Paton, Coffield and Long is plenty of small defenders.

Got nothing against the man but he is too slow and does not kick to advantage.
With his body, he would have to play like Diesel Williams to get another game.

Another player who has probably taken his spot has next to worse footskills (and showed against North)... Zac Jones.minneapolis wrote: ↑Sat 13 Jun 2020 3:11amGot nothing against the man but he is too slow and does not kick to advantage.

Re: Team v Dogs
Dunstan's a hard working player who gets his hands dirty in the thick of contested situations. However, his kicking into the forward line is just atrocious. Too many times he has players on clear leads or in space and he grubs the ball along the ground or over-shoots the target, turning it over. It's very costly when he does it, and it happens all too regularly. I still think he has value, but his kicking is the difference between him being potentially one of our best players or just another battler.

Re: Team v Dogs
definitely needs to improve his disposal. i think he plays such an intensive game he is kicking fatigued much of the time. also why he plays shorter game time. does the dirty work as had been said, and affects many contested situations past that which turn into stats. we need him to step up to improve and he needs to step up to claim a regular spot. lot of competition in our midfield, but no one of top quality.

Re: Team v Dogs -Lonie
Why no heat on this guy?
No doubt, he is likely a lovely bloke
But
Seems to lack what it takes to consistently produce at the highest level.
Slow, questionable kicking, distance and accuracy, ineffective tackling
On rare occassions he produces short spells of effectiveness, some of which look quite clever etc, but given how he seems to be almost an automatic selection, his rating seems to be disproportionate to his effective output
Yet, seemingly a lot of love for him on this forum.
Which aspect of his game am I missing?
i would really like to know because his (non) performances are driving me to insanity

Yeah, I get the criticism on Dunstan but he was in our top 3 players against North. 1st game of the season & yep disposal efficiency was terrible but he got the ball, had 9 tackles, 6 inside 50's. There were plenty of guys in front of him for the chopping block. Very very unlucky.

Re: Team v Dogs
Correct and as much as I like Luke Dunstan he is certainly lacking in break-away speed, which is why the selectors went for Nick Hind who is genuinely quick, especially when he switches on his after-burners!
I would also like to see Josh Battle in the team and wonder if he could claim Billings' spot and play as a tall wingman. Jack Billings has never quite reached the potential that his status as a top 3 pick suggested. At almost age 25 it may be that he has no improvement in him, unless he has a "break-out" year in 2020.

Kent out for Sinclair.
I just realised that’s as an emergency. It probably doesn’t matter.

Geary definitely gives 100% for the jumper every time he plays.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sat 13 Jun 2020 10:10amThat's a huge call. I'm guessing you must know all our players very well.

Not quite the same thing, but Geary has moments and patches when he goes into his shell for lack of confidence. Mainly when he has the ball. It undermines his aggression and contributes to us getting buried by an avalanche of goals from time to time.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sat 13 Jun 2020 3:40pmGeary definitely gives 100% for the jumper every time he plays.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Sat 13 Jun 2020 10:10amThat's a huge call. I'm pro-Geary. Is still in my 22. But it does sometimes look like he's given up, which looks like not playing for the jumper

Re: Team v Dogs
I really like the team and am really pleased Coffield gets a crack. Like a few on here I was a fan of his run of 3-4 games leading up to his injury..he seemed to settle with the pace of the game and showed he could be a really neat and effective player
As others have mentioned prob the only disappointing element is battle not getting a crack but he’ll get plenty of opportunities this year I’d think so it’s no biggie
