B Jarryn Geary - Dougal Howard - Callum Wilkie
HB Ben Long - Jake Carlisle - Hunter Clark
C Bradley Hill - Zak Jones - Dan Hannebery
HF Jack Lonie - Max King - Jack Billings
F Tim Membrey - Rowan Marshall - Jade Gresham
R Paddy Ryder - Jack Steele - Sebastian Ross
INT Josh Battle - Jonathon Marsh - Nicholas Hind - Dan Butler
Dean Kent - Luke Dunstan - Nick Coffield
Int = Battle, Marsh, Hind and Coffield and I’ll take it.
The question for me is with shorter quarters, Battle as a make shift ruck and Dunstan as an extra mid is a better fit
I love Battle - he's going to be a serious player - probably as a wingman in the end. I've been watching him since he was in Yr 11 at Hailebury and I can tell you that his vertical leap is not great hence, they've picked Marsh. Marsh can play key forward / back and can play 2nd ruck. I can't see them selecting Ryder - the consensus seems to be that shorter quarters won't suit that strategy (too easy to defend a resting ruckman and easily exploited by a smaller defender running off)
Marsh’s blistering pace at half forward and goal vs Hawks at Moorabbin in the practice match sealed his spot. It was an unbelievable sight to see live, even for a practice match.
He has some X factor
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
As pointed out, much better line up than fielded in last couple of seasons. Wonder who will actually be at CHF &CHB.
Carslise might be under and injury/cold cloud.
Just need to get a settled team and have it play a lot of games together - we have lacked team work and composure too often even if individually the players are v. good footballers.
Really looking forward to it particularly as experts have made Doggies short priced favourites.

Very interesting Saintmatt. So you would have watched a lot of Clavarino. I was hoping to get a glimpse of him this year but with the discovery of Wilkie, the return of Roberton and recruitment of Howard, that seems unlikely.

Would have preferred Marsh in ahead of Butler and perhaps Battle for Ryder (don’t reckon we need two rucks) but feel this is a better team than round one
I get the Dunstan criticism but I think it’s a balance thing...
Dunstan, Steele, Hannebery, Ross - similar type of player and IMO there’s room for 3 of them
Maybe more to it (just a guess), maybe came back from iso not as fit as he should
But does seem odd, he was fantastic in the first half against Roos

Maybe but once Steele goes to Bont then only 3

"Three Saints will make their first senior appearances of 2020 ahead of Sunday's season restart against the Western Bulldogs.
Jake Carlisle, Nicholas Hind and Nick Coffield will don the red, white and black for the first time in 2020 in Round 2, with Luke Dunstan, Dean Kent and Dylan Roberton all omitted.
Back issues prevented a Round 1 berth for Carlisle, but thanks to a diligent training regime over the shutdown period, the big man is now primed and ready.
Hind and Coffield, meanwhile, have been banging down the selection door since their return to the club, impressing enough to earn a spot in the senior side.
Ben Long and Jade Gresham are fit and firing following injuries sustained in Round 1, while Jack Steele is good to go after minor wrist surgery.
Josh Battle and Jonathon Marsh – along with Kent and Dunstan – have been named as emergencies.
St Kilda will set its sights on securing its first win of the year against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday, 14 June at Marvel Stadium, with the opening bounce at 6:05pm.
IN: Carlisle, Coffield, Hind
OUT: Dunstan (omitted), Kent (omitted), Roberton (omitted)
I think that is true older saint & yorkeys & skeptic. If you only had reason to pick 3 of 4 from Steele, Hannebery, Dunstan and Ross to allow more pace, who misses?
Speed & clean disposal are the Dog's weapons. Neither are in Luke's wheelhouse.
The Dog's Achilles heel is the Ruck & height. We need first use, I like Ryder in.
I like the fact I agree with the team selection and am still annoyed with one or two of the omissions! For too many years the team has almost picked itself...competition for spots is good for us.
Any slip ups or laziness from the backline has Battle and Roberton waiting in the wings. Same can be said for Dunstan in the centre.....love it!
It looks like they are going with
(after rearranging)
B Jarryn Geary - Dougal Howard - Callum Wilkie

Going for extra speed at the expense of height.
