I hope our players aren't forced to "take the knee" by the cultural warriors currently overrunning the planet.

Now Collingwood are preparing for there next game while their opponents are 3 days off playing. Another huge advantage the AFL has given them.

Better than rioting, looting or burning. Happy for our guys who want to do it to do it, as long as the guys who don't want to do it don't feel coerced/vilified etc.The_Dud wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 10:27amLike kneeling on the groundDarth Vader wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 10:07amGreat photo. Fair enough. Though I'm not sure how many educated people/players would need to be 'coerced' into accepting black people as equals, especially with so many strong indigenous leaders around the club.Darth Vader wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 11:55amBetter than rioting, looting or burning. If you were a Richmond player running into an open goal at the Collingwood cheer squad end, would you target cardboard Eddie or cardboard Joffa?

100% should all accept black people as equals and would be disgusted with any that didn't. Doesn't mean they need to kneel though, that should be up to the individual.The_Dud wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 12:19pmFair enough. Suppose you didn't want to get involved in politics so you decided to not do that American knee thing - the feel gooders would crucify you.
So where will it stop.
Will we have bonfires before the game so the players can throw in DVD's of Little Britain, Fawlty Towers, and Gone With the Wind?
And why does the AFL pick up on this issue but are happy to ignore the millions of Chinese citizens incarcerated in concentration camps, the all the bully-boy tactics of the disgusting Chinese regime?
Instead of bending the knee to the Chinese the AFL follows Dirty Dan's lead and BENDS their ARSE to the Chinese in the name of $$$

Imagine if you were an indigenous Australian, and you, your family, friends and ancestors lived in a systemically racist society and you had a national platform that you could use to help bring light and attention to this problem.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 12:58pmImagine if you felt you were there to play football and not change the world.The_Dud wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 11:31amMaybe you can send an email to the likes of Gresh, Parker, Ryder and Hill telling them this.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 11:07am I hope our players aren't forced to "take the knee" by the cultural warriors currently overrunning the planet.

I don't think burning plastics is a very environmentally friendly way of disposing of them.
I'm pretty sure this is a player driven initiative anyway, not the AFL.
And what of ScoMo or anyone else bowing down at the feet of Trump and the US regime? You know, for consistency and all...

didn't like taking the knee one bit. pure tokenism and worse, an americanism. come up with our own symbol for gawds sake. i thought cultural theft was not the done thing nowadays? and yes enrico is correct about what would happen to any that didn't want to participate. could have done it in much more taste and less grandstanding (kneeling) - maybe wear inidgenous jumpers this round for instance.

Well, the indigenous jumper is more of a celebration. I don't think anyone wants to celebrate black deaths in custody - well, only those pointy hats. Something a bit quieter was needed and no point trying to make a statement by coming up with some new idea that nobody else recognises for what it's meant to be.desertsaint wrote: ↑Fri 12 Jun 2020 1:39pm didn't like taking the knee one bit. pure tokenism and worse, an americanism. come up with our own symbol for gawds sake. i thought cultural theft was not the done thing nowadays? and yes enrico is correct about what would happen to any that didn't want to participate. could have done it in much more taste and less grandstanding (kneeling) - maybe wear inidgenous jumpers this round for instance.

I don't have a problem with players taking the knee but do have a problem with leftie greenie senators thinking it's ok to attend rallies then travel to Canberra without first isolating.

Re: Footy is off and running.
yeah thanks dud. i grew up in indigenous culture and count a heck of a lot more friends in that circle than you no doubt - the mcadams, brays, liddles, etc, etc. played in indigneous sports teams throughout my time. they aint all the same people with the same opinion as closet guilt affected racists seem to think. nicky can do what he likes, as an aboriginal and as an individual. it doesn't mean i have to agree with it, as i said, i would prefer they have their own symbol and not adopt an americanism. but you go on thinking everything is black and white. you dud.

If as a player I remained standing to protest the lack of safe distancing at the rally in Melb I would have been hounded down as a racist and probably fined by the AFL..this is how crazy the world is becoming
