Re: Rounds 2 to 5
We’d hope to win at least 2 of those 4, we’ll definitely know where we’re at by the end of round 5, hopefully 3-2 or better

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
Though just looking at the fixture I note that we have been dudded again as we gain no rest advantage in any game, whereas both the Pies and Tigers gain maximum rest again.

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
Whenever we play the Filth they always have an extra days break. On some occasions they have have played on a Friday night and we played on Sunday. OH WAIT, this year it's even worse. By the time we play the Dogs Collingfilth have already had 3 days rest since they played Richmond. Gil, YOU'RE F U C K E D.

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
I don't know why they even bother playing the games? Just do the draw, see who has the longer break between games and award them the win!
Apparently anyway...

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
As long as we get 6 and 7 days between games can't see any disadvantage if the opposition has longer particularly if no interstate travel is involved.chook23 wrote: ↑Mon 25 May 2020 4:35pmplay coll off a six day break they have 8 daysaintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 25 May 2020 3:04pm Though just looking at the fixture I note that we have been dudded again as we gain no rest advantage in any game, whereas both the Pies and Tigers gain maximum rest again.

Gee we were lucky with the allocated timeslots.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Lucky? We've been absolutely rodgered! How are we supposed to draw big crowds with those tie slots?
Oh, I forgot.

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
I see that none of these games will be on free to air television
I have foxtel so will see all, but lack of public exposure again will disadvantage our club.

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
Sorry to say it but I have us 1 win 4 losses after round 5.
The loss to North was disappointing as we dominated a large part of the match.

well looks like I need to turn the sports package back on for some more pain.
that loss against north continues to eat away at me...without any games to wash it away. still angry.

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
But who do we have to beat to make that possible.
We don't need to tank but a poor finish in a crazy compromised season will add value to our first round pick.
We still have our first round pick intact.
It could be used to reclaim superstar full forward Paddy McCartin.
Our second round pick was part of the Brad Hill trade with Fremantle that got used as part of the James Aish trade to Fremantle from Collingwood and then got used as part of the trade of picks between Richmond & Collingwood.
St Kilda's 2nd round pick now resides with Richmond.
Our third round pick was part of Dougal Howard & Paddy Ryder trade with Port Adelaide.
St Kilda's 3rd round pick now resides with Port Adelaide.
Our fourth round pick was part of the Brad Hill trade with Fremantle.
St Kilda's 4th round pick now resides with Fremantle.
We did collect Port Adelaides fourth round pick as part of Howard & Ryder trade.
Port Adelaide's fourth round pick resides with St Kilda.
We got Fremantle's third round pick along with the Brad Hill trade but on traded that to Sydney as part of the trade for Zac Jones but got Sydney's fourth round pick as part of the deal.
Sydney's fourth round pick resides with St Kilda.
That Richmond - Collingwood trade pick was suss.
Collingwood gave up our early 2nd round pick and 2019 pick 46 to get Richmond's late 2nd round pick and 2019 pick 45.
Clearly Eddie's boy's expect us to be as good as Richmond this year.

Re: Rounds 2 to 5
We can't really complain about not getting enough exposure after a decade of this garbage.
(thanks to George over on Bigfooty)
"Our results on ANZAC day since we were given the opportunity?;
2013 - 16pt loss v Sydney (Crowd: 22,546)
2014 - 3pt loss v Brisbane (Crowd: 13,409)
2015 - 40pt loss v Carlton (Crowd: 12,125)
Then we got the opportunity to play on Easter weekend. The result was a 52pt loss to North Melbourne.
Whilst it doesn't get as much media coverage as other big games, the Pride Game is a big earner for the club. Here's our results since the inception of this game;
2016 - 70pt loss v Sydney (Crowd: 33,059)
2017 - 42pt loss v Sydney (Crowd: 35,773)
2018 - 71pt loss v Sydney (Crowd: 27,569)
2019 - 45pt loss v Sydney (Crowd: 33,722)
Lets throw in Maddies Match as well, that has become a somewhat of a marquee game on the calendar and our biggest money making game of the year.
2015 - 16pt loss v Richmond (Crowd: 45,772)
2016 - 57pt loss v Western Bulldogs (Crowd: 37,353)
2017 - 67pt win v Richmond (Crowd: 47,514)
2018 - 54pt loss v Richmond (Crowd: 36,269)
2019 - 33pt loss v Richmond (Crowd: 40,962)
We have been given opportunities to perform in prime slots and we have lost every game, and the reason I added the attendance to those figures is to show you we haven't been able to capitalise on the event by drawing big crowds.
We then got the opportunity last year to play our first ever game in China, replacing the Gold Coast Suns. We lost that game by 70 points.
Since 2013 we have played in 14 marquee games (Won 1, Lost 13) and our average losing margin in marquee games is 44 points. Our average attendance is 30,675."
I have been saying this for years - we simply don't turn up.
A lot of our so-called experienced players who have been on the list for years did nothing in the second half against North in round 1 when we desperately needed them to stand up and show something this season, so I can't see these performances improving in the short term (although I think we'll beat the 'Doggies perversely enough).
I think a lot of our players who have been on the list for five years or more have had lots of time to ponder their futures after the North match, and if they haven't been, then they should be.
