Saints who were great or could have been great in other sports
Well there are quite a few obvious ones but lets just take one per poster.

Schneider and Milne represented Australia in Kabbadi. I wonder how their careers are going now.

Keeping on the Olympic front and once removed, Chesty Mulhalls daughter could put a shot pretty well.

I’ve never known if one ‘puts’ a shot or is ‘putting’ a shot? Yes, I agree Gail/Gael did either of those pretty well.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Wed 15 Apr 2020 12:16pmKeeping on the Olympic front and once removed, Chesty Mulhalls daughter could put a shot pretty well.
And I think Ivan Baumgartner’s daughter (May have been his grand-daughter) Michelle, ran a pretty good race. I’m sure she represented Australia in either Commonwealth or World Games.

Just googled her. Michelle was Ivan’s daughter. She qualified for the 1992 Olympics, but ruptured her Archilles tendon prior to the Games and thus ending her competitive running career.loris wrote: ↑Wed 15 Apr 2020 7:25pmI’ve never known if one ‘puts’ a shot or is ‘putting’ a shot? George Young and Bruce Duperouzel weren't bad cricketers for WA either.

It was said that Nick Riewoldt could have been an elite 400 metre runner (or was it 800 metres).

I remember Michelle well, she was very well known around Melbourne as an athlete in the 80's as the pin up girl of aths and remember reading struggled mentally and maybe had an eating disorder.loris wrote: ↑Wed 15 Apr 2020 7:32pmJust googled her. None other than Daly Thompson who'd have a fair idea. If I recall correctly after watching Nick train, and it was 400mt.

We had an Under 19's player (as the thirds were, still in the 80's) called Shane Warne. He could have been quite a handy cricketer.

Ivan played 16 games for the Saints in 1956 , kicking 1 goal. Previously he had played 27 games with the girls down at sleepy hollow.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Wed 15 Apr 2020 8:00pmI remember Michelle well, she was very well known around Melbourne as an athlete in the 80's as the pin up girl of aths and remember reading struggled mentally and maybe had an eating disorder.loris wrote: ↑Wed 15 Apr 2020 7:32pmJust googled her.
