Sam Gilbert 2 year ban for cocaine use
Being reported in Herald Sun now, tested positive after playing for Sandringham against Frankston in May 2019.
Don't have the expertise to copy the story with my tablet but it is done and dusted and on the ASADA website.
I've been wondering where he had gone to.

Looking at Gilbo you'd never suspect that he'd be the type of person that would partake in recreational drug use .

Real shame, I’d rate Gilbo along with Jimmy Webster the nicest most down to earth Saints players I have met.
Hell of a nice guy and great with supporters and kids.
Very sad.

"Recreational" BS. Might go a fair way to explain his "rabbit in the spotlight" look on his face every time he got the ball. He might have got pinged as a "Sandringham player" and not an ex-Saint, but he has done his dash as far as I am concerned.mr six o'clock wrote: ↑Thu 09 Apr 2020 8:21pm wow !

People can be nice AND snort coke, they’re not mutually exclusive.
And anyone who thinks ‘recreational’ drug use isn’t widespread across the whole AFL has their head well and truly in the sand.
There are plenty of highly functioning drug users out there.

Very rarely comment but can’t resist this one. I have no idea of what is going on but what are the chances of a)Sam Gilbert and b)the st Kilda school girl suddenly appearing in the top newsfeed of the herald sun newsfeed at the same time? Btw really sad to hear about anyone suffering from cancer...just think the timing of this coming out is absolutely 1/1000000 it would happen on the same day?

How low can you go saying something as disgusting as this about a young woman suffering from cervical cancer! Take a break, pal. Could I suggest where I spent my January holidays - the oncology and haemotology ward. You would come out of there with a different outlook on life, for sure. Judging by your comment, any minor improvement would be a major development in the way you see life.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Fri 10 Apr 2020 12:27amVery disappointing as Gilbo is a lovely guy who makes time for everyone.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Thu 09 Apr 2020 8:45pm Real shame, I’d rate Gilbo along with Jimmy Webster the nicest most down to earth Saints players I have met.

Never really thought highly of Gilbo after he landed Rooey in the s*** for not deleting photos he should never have had in the first place.

Re: Sam Gilbert 2 year ban for cocaine use
Sam Gilbert was a player that seemed to get less confident as his career went on. Started like a house on fire and was an instrumental part of the side in '09. Seriously go back and watch some of those games and he was a marking machine that would just take the game on and deliver it lace out again and again. A completely different player early in his career.

Grog, coffee and smokes are all drugs too - and tea and chocolate contain low levels of a drug.

Wonder what the deal is with her Greek-sounding surname in the article and then they also call her Duthie?
Anyone know??

Last time I checked coffee, tea and chocolate weren't illegal or on the AFL banned game day list.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Fri 10 Apr 2020 11:28amGrog, coffee and smokes are all drugs too - and tea and chocolate contain low levels of a drug.
Nor could you be arrested for selling them or making them at home.
Smokes are in a different category.

I'm not sure about the lace out comment, but as you say his marking was more confident as was his ability to take the game on. He seemed to have more strength, both physical and mental.Trixilver wrote: ↑Fri 10 Apr 2020 11:27am Sam Gilbert was a player that seemed to get less confident as his career went on. You should be ashamed but having seen other comments by you over the years probably won’t happen

If the story is true though and she does have cervical cancer, then she has my complete sympathy.
