Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
Final team named.
Kudos to Dean Kent, I thought he'd be out of contention given the new recruits but he is in the 22, must have had a vg pre-season and for a lesser light also Paton.
All others pretty much as expected IMO with the exception of Carslile & Battle.
Battle a bit stiff IMO as he was very servicable down back last year.
B: Geary, Wilkie, Howard
HB: Long, Clark, Roberton
C: Billings, Jones, Hill
HF: Lonie, King, Hannebery
F: Butler, Ryder, Membrey
FOLL: Marshall, Steele, Gresham
I/C: Kent, Ross, Dunstan, Paton
EMG: Sinclair, Coffield, Marsh

Battle is definitely in our best 22 he’ll be our Jack GunstonJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 20 Mar 2020 6:53pm Final team named.

Spot on Battle for Kent. It gives you so much more flexibility & probably classsaint6709 wrote: ↑Fri 20 Mar 2020 7:18pmYep Kent for battle - very simpleCordz2 wrote: ↑Fri 20 Mar 2020 7:07pmBattle is definitely in our best 22 he’ll be our Jack GunstonJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 20 Mar 2020 6:53pm Final team named.

Posted this in the Morwell game thread
Battle have a poor pre season?
Has he gotten ahead of himself?
Swingman training has him out of sorts?
Thoughts.....
Attitude???

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
Battle isn't big enough to be a KPP.
Not fast enough to be a small.
He's not a forward. He can get away with his deficiencies as a 3rd defender....however with Roberten back and Howard being a much better defender - it basically means there's no spot for him.
Depth player unfortunately.

By the way - shocked Roberton is in. He was awful in the pre-season. Looked like a guy that hadn't played for a year.

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
Mmm...
Seems very risky to go in without Battle or Carlisle and be dependent on Roberton.
Can’t say I love the strategy there.
Would have preferred to go without the 3 FPs

I wouldve thought Battle in for Kent. Adds more versatility both fwd and back.
Obvously going for more run and gun action... just cant wait to get into it!

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
I've watched about 5 mins of footy...appart from the uneasy feeling about the appropriateness of it all, it just lacks any entertainment value. I'm not even sure I'll be watching our game. This round is a dead rubber and most people know it. The AFL better hope this works out for Australians.
The players who didn't get picked might be the winners of this round.

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
How is Kent better than Sinclair? Someone tell me the logic here! Pls!
No Carlisle, and Robertson underdone, I hope the ball stays forward, where Kent can show his goods.
Sorry, but with everything I’ve dropped the ball completely with team news.
Parker and Carlisle? Injuries?

Shame COVID-19 will destroy the season and we are essentially hoping we can launch in 2021 (assuming things are back to normal then).

Kent in the team but no Battle, Carlisle, Parker, Sinclair, Coffield...
Baffling.

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
Parker still recovering from ankle surgery and not ready I believe.
i don't rate the little Kent at all but I'm obviously wrong as he is in the starting 22.
He was reasonable in the Marsh series.
I think Carslile is a lock when fully fit and training, wasn't he dealing with a personal issue?
I have Battle, Sinclair and Coffield in front of Kent every day of the week.

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
As you say, Kent was reasonable in the Marsh series --- a couple of his long, damaging kicks to the goal square, catching defenders out, may have tipped the scales his way?Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 21 Mar 2020 10:21am

As a forward, I rate him ahead of Sinclair.
Battle and Coffield ... both good users of the ball - I'm sure they will get their chance soon.
It's probably about team balance and trying new things out, and seeing how a different combination works out.

That makes sense with Parker, thought I hadn’t seen much of him.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Sat 21 Mar 2020 10:21amParker still recovering from ankle surgery and not ready I believe.

Kent, Lonie, Gresh and Butler seems like too many of the same player, small forward not quite a midfielder, in the side.

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
Would have had all our emergencys in before Kent. Head scratcher.
The only thing I can see, re Robbo is because no VFL they are hoping he can play himself into form, as his best is A grade, but still a big risk. I'd have played Battle ahead of him at this stage.

Re: St Kilda vs North Melbourne
I would guess North are now favorites.
Reason - Team selections.
In one of the few AFL games I have seen in recent years, it was Carlisle, just bobbing up out of nowhere time and again, that thoroughly surprised and delighted me, thwarting North Melbourne’s advances. Perhaps he has peaked, and is already on the decline....or some disciplinary thing.
Kent? He has played one good game.
