I want my money back
I paid good money for my annual membership (as I have for decades).
But I paid to SEE the games live.
I didn't pay to watch them on TV, or have to pay more for Poxtel.
The pathetic gutless inconsistent limp-wristed decision to ban crowds is a gross over-reaction.
But if they won't let me in because of their pants wetedness.
THEN I WANT A REFUND!!!!!!

Season will be lucky to get to around 2 . We have a staff member getting tested as we speak and I know for a fact three others from opposition clubs being tested.. Forget about the year and look after your elderly.

Re: I want my money back
The vast majority of people getting tested just have colds or the flu etc.
So far there have been only 199 cases in all of Australia, with a large portion of them having contracted it overseas.
So odds of having CV19 in Australia are still very low if you have not been overseas very recently, or have been in close contact with someone that has been.

Your membership is helping the club. If you are going to have a hissy fit over a few rounds then find a new sport or get a new job.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Fri 13 Mar 2020 7:40pm I paid good money for my annual membership (as I have for decades).

I always consider my membership/s spend a donation to the club even if I don’t get to too many games that year.

Re: I want my money back
What annoys me is not the money/refund,
but the facts that
- I want to go to the games
- I am totally comfortable with the risk level
- I see the empty stadiums decision as totally over the top and massively inconsistent

It's actually very consistent with other sporting codes/comps at the moment.
Sounds like just another (and very consistent) throwing the toys out of the cot moment if anything.

I get this, but also appreciate that for many people this isn't a luxury and shouldn't be treated as one.prwilkinson wrote: ↑Fri 13 Mar 2020 10:30pm I always consider my membership/s spend a donation to the club even if I don’t get to too many games that year.
The bottom line is that it is a product and you would think that people would be reimbursed in some capacity for lack there of.

We've seen in China, Italy and now Spain what happens if you don't react early.
Waiting until s*** gets bad before reacting is pure idiocy.
Banning large crowds is step 1. Workplaces and Unis will follow.
Schools and shopping centres probably next after that.
A few months of relatively low pain (not being able to go to the footy) will save us from some nightmarish type s*** like what's going on in Italy right now.

Re: I want my money back
I'm thinking about running a book on which SS member will die first from COVID-19.
As we know or would agree most SS members are in the high risk category so this could be easy money.
The book is open and bets can be placed right now, do I have any takers. Step right up and try your luck.
Enrico is still good money at $1.80 as there are others expected to go at much shorter odds before the pandemic kicks off here in Oz.

Re: I want my money back
Enrico FYI I know someone who is in the hospital system and they are gearing up for one particular hospital to be overwhelmed in ICU at some stage THIS WEEK already.
Another hospital has cancelled all elective surgery for the WHOLE YEAR.
Frankston Hospital has cleared itself out to be set up 100% for COVID19 cases.
saintsrising said we only had 200 cases. Problem is, if we c**k it up it could be 1,000 cases by Friday easily.
The other issue is when to start the full on isolation for the masses - start too early and it goes on too long, start too late the hospitals are flooded to the point where many folks are left to die at home without oxygen/ventalors to give them a chance.

Re: I want my money back
Unchecked, this disease has a doubling rate every 5 days. If you know anything about exponential function then it should scare you. Standard flu has a spreadability rate of 1.2. that means each person with the disease will infect 1.2 others. The most reliable figures coming out of South Korea show that it's somewhere between 4.5 and 7. The deadly SARS was 0.8. so you can see where this is heading. Expect around 70% of the population to have been infected by mid June. The complication rate requiring hospitalization is around 10% and those ending up in ICU in that group will be very high. The hospital system will not cope. That's why slowing the rate of infection is so important. We could have half a million people infected within a few weeks

Re: I want my money back
They should postpone the season and re-jig the fixture to make it a seventeen round home and away season where every team plays each opponent once.
Playing a couple of rounds in front of empty stadiums and running the risk of players getting the coronavirus in the meantime is a dumb idea.
Start the season when round five should be played and things will be a lot clearer situation-wise.
If by May, schools and public transport are closed then they will have to abandon the season anyway.
If the season had already started then abandoning it is a lot more disruptive and leaves players, officials, their families exposed to an unfair risk.
I have no idea how dangerous this virus can be - about the same as the flu, but with no antidote I've been reliably informed - so it can make a person very ill.
The strategy needs to be one of keeping calm and being pro-active until the antidote can be found.

Re: I want my money back
China has taken extreme measures, locking down cities and keeping people in their homes. If you don't take measures, leaving it unchecked, it will spread exponentially
