Good stuff.
Let the opposition worry about us rather than the reverse.
I like the way Ratten thinks.

+1
Don't get to read the Melbourne rags anymore Saynta, so really appreciate your efforts to bring
these articles on the forum.

Interesting. I hope they have a good defensive 'team' game happening then. The only concerning thing about the 1st practice match was the way, on occasions, the hawks chopped us up on transition. It's great to be attacking but usually the best teams are defense first

Yes it would appear the transition is almost complete.
We've gone from wooden to cuddly.
From "strong" to "connection".

Re: Saints want to be in control
If pre-season form is a reliable indicator we are a chance of finally beating Adelaide Crows and the Sydney Swans after many seasons - however my main area for concern is that it appears that many of our mids still don't lower their eyes when delivering passes to a forward in position to score.
This, and the fact that our forwards seem to play high half forward or have to lead way out to the boundary are the main reasons we have only scored centuries 5 times in two seasons.
I am hoping BR is changing this. In a few of the matches he coached us in in the back of last season it did appear that way.
To be in control should mean through physical pressure on the man with the ball, and scoreboard pressure when we are dominating.
I would say that we are still rank outsiders to beat any finalist, except the 'Dogs and Essendon, and will continue to struggle to match mid-table sides like North and Port, given their midfields are so good by hand and foot and give their forwards far better supply than we do at present.
