Re: This Sunday
Can we change the title of the thread to 'AFLW Saints this Sunday'? So all those who are disinterested can just move on with their lives.

Re: This Sunday
Good luck to our girls today. Any player wearing a Saints jumper is worthy of support. There seems to be a bit of a competition by some on this site (and in the community) to be the most disinterested in AFLW, but today is an exciting landmark. Those complaining about skill levels compared to the men need to keep a bit of perspective. The skill levels will grow dramatically over the years and decades to come. Scores were pretty low when the men's competition started.
The suggestion that the AFLW games should be curtain raisers to the men's games seems a bit patronising - although maybe there is potential in the future for "double headers", with both our teams playing on the same ground on the same day (maybe afternoon and evening games - allowing for sufficient ground maintenance/recovery work to be undertaken between the two games).

Re: This Sunday
great idea... everyone please tag all future threads pertaining to the AFLW with "AFLW" so we can all avoid them.
Thanks in advance.

Or the other way round just to be pcEnrico_Misso wrote: ↑Fri 07 Feb 2020 10:50pm I'm giving it a go.
But I still think the AFLW should be played in winter as curtain raisers to the AFL.

Re: This Sunday
Beautiful day here at Moorabbin.
Packed house, people still arriving a half time. Food trucks better than anything you’d get at Marvel.
Everyone at the ground in great spirits, bloke just took a mark behind the goals and brought the house down.
Our girls are fast. No. 4 is a cracker.
Wind is ridiculous. We were kicking with it that quarter but couldn’t convert.
Hope we can kick a few more, but a good day so far!

Re: This Sunday
Of course there is an agenda, and it’s a bloody good one. It’s one where my 3 year old daughter will have the same opportunities as my son in being able to look up to Saints players of her own gender inspirationally. I see nothing but good coming out of this.chook23 wrote: ↑Sat 08 Feb 2020 11:09pmNot a sad sack but the aflw is just rubbish........an agenda being pushed that is just so ordinary to watch
To those who complain about the standard, clearly it’s not great but it is getting better. Look at some of the younger girls who have come through the under 18 comp that are playing now. They are fantastic.
I would love to know what the quality of Men’s football was like in the late 1800’s when it started and there were only a handful of people playing. I bet it was crap!
AFLW standards will continue to get better every year!

No, but maybe the fact you have to post 7 times about how disinterested you are says something. The Fireman wrote: ↑Sun 09 Feb 2020 4:26pmhmm maybe.......i guess my disinterest is exposing my frailties

Re: This Sunday
I'm not there, am waiting impatiently for the 20th, but watching on TV got me in.
And it's great watching matches which mean something back at dear old Moorabbin again.
Hell, I'll bite - I'm a convert!
Love the intensity - the girls out there can certainly play, and they're not scared!

Re: This Sunday
Cant be any worse than some of the crap I saw at Moorabbin during the 80s
Think its great that there is an AFL Ladies league and for sure the standard will get better over time however I suggest that they should be playing on smaller (shorter) grounds in that it would help scoring
Go Saints!

Number 21 - Georgia Patrikios . Only 18. Will be a beauty. Ran out of legs, but looked very clever early.
