Re: This Sunday
I would've thought that it's perfect fixturing - pre-drinks in St Kilda, watch the game in Moorabbin, then after party where the day started!

Re: This Sunday
I’m heading down with a car load of women.
I’ll be the one in the cap with the St Kilda crest on it.
If I ever have a daughter, I can’t wait to tell her that I was there on day 1!

Probably the best chance of us seeing a premiership in the near future!

Re: This Sunday
I'm giving it a go.
But I still think the AFLW should be played in winter as curtain raisers to the AFL.

Petty politics stopped it.

Re: This Sunday
You would have to be a sad sack if you didn't support a group of girls who are playing in the red. black and white colours of St Kilda, who train at Moorabbin and are OUR AFLW team.
Go Sainters!

Re: This Sunday
Whole family going.
Even my mum, who now finds the tv coverage more compelling in the regular season, is giving it a burl.
I was at Moorabbin on Friday afternoon to drop something off, and the place was absolutely buzzing. They are so hyped down there.
The ground looked like they’d taken to it with the nail scissors.
I was very proud to buy the first commemorative program from the shop.
They’re stoked and expecting a big turnout, even with the cricket change of venue.
If you’re heading there the advice was to get there by 2 and maybe get a seat.
Go Sainters!

Re: This Sunday
I'm guessing you must be a man, Chook. I love AFLW. I can watch any game. I love seeing the skills develop. I love that the women love to play. You won't see anyone wandering around looking bored (like some I could mention) or getting in a huff with each other cos they didn't get the perfect delivery (like some others I could mention!) Great role models. Courage in spades. Daisy Thomas coming back to skipper a win less than a year after giving birth to twins FFS! If you think it's a dud spectacle, I'm sorry for you. Look past the skill errors and you'll notice something pretty exciting going on. Women have been starved of this - now it's arrived, we can't get enough.chook23 wrote: ↑Sat 08 Feb 2020 11:09pmNot a sad sack but the aflw is just rubbish........an agenda being pushed that is just so ordinary to watch

BTW,
I couldn’t agree more. Absolutely spot on!

couldn't be more disinterested.
PS and will go as far to say the AFLW should have it's own separate forum here on SS

Re: This Sunday
I agree. Good luck to the girls, but I cannot get interested. I enjoy women's sports, in fact go to more women's golf tournaments than men - you can more readily appreciate the timing of their shots compared to the more powerful swings of the men. Women's tennis, cricket and so on I enjoy, but I don't think AFL is suited. The Fireman wrote: ↑Sun 09 Feb 2020 8:50am couldn't be more disinterested.

Still, the AFL/media has pushed the concept very well, and has attracted a market, and it looks likely to continue.
Agree with a separate forum on SS.
