Nope. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating.
I'm not sure what a pudding on its own proves!
The idiom is usually stated the proof is in the pudding and means that the end result is the mark of the success or failure of one's efforts or planning. The phrase may also be used in the past and future tenses: the proof will be/was in the pudding.

Lazy Millenial garbage.
The concept is that you don't know how good the pudding is until you eat it. The pudding can look cooked from the outside but completely underdone inside...And it might cooked well but taste awful.

Etymology

This proverb dates back at least to the 14th century as "Jt is ywrite that euery thing Hymself sheweth in the tastyng", and William Camden stated it in 1605 in Remaines of a Greater Worke, Concerning Britaine as "All the proofe of a pudding, is in the eating", per Rogers' Dictionary of Cliche and the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.[1]

A 1682 translation of Nicolas Boileau-Despréaux Le Lutrin (written between 1672 and 1674) renders it "The proof of th' pudding's seen i' the eating."[2]

The shorter form the proof is in the pudding, which is found in an 1867 issue of the British Farmer's Magazine,[6] and came into common use in the United States in the 1950s, is becoming increasingly common, despite missing the point of the original meaning.
[7][8]

Not sure it matters what the saying was hundreds of years ago?

What is the current saying, and it has been for as long as I’ve been alive?!

And why are we debating it anyway? It was used correctly AFAIC.

In the past 4 yeard we have drafted Byrnes, Connolly, Bell, Mayo, Bytel, King, Coffield Clark Clavarino, Langlands, Battle, Phillips, Long, Paton, Gresham, Parker and Marshall, accounting for over 1/3 of our list, aged between 18 and 24. There is plenty of talent there.and we could expect 6-8 of them to finish the year in the best 25 and at least 2 more on the verge.
On top of that we have traded Ryder, Hannerbery, Hill, Jones, Howard, Kent, Austin, Steele and Brown in the same time.
It's nearly time for Xmas pudding. I think there is some Bundy 57.7% over proof in that pudding and some of you been licking the spoon.

well we've traded and drafted since 1966 and got sweet fanny adams on our plate for it. one day perhaps we'll be served again, but i've learned not to expect, just hope. And never give in - poverty is the reward of idleness.

I think a more suitable proverb for this situation is: a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

It’s about getting quality players through the door and we’ve got at least 3 that will play 100 games with no counter argument as to how/why that’s bad

that you can have cake
and maybe eat it in a year or two ?
Well it is easier in hindsight especially when one won’t put up the alternative
I did put up an alternative. You just haven't bothered reading it.

I will be interested in seeing how Bruce goes, i'm tipping he will do better at the dogs than he has for us but who knows how good he could have been with our new line up.

Anyway hope he continues to miss those easy ones.

I believe the correct expression is "the proof of the pudding is in the eating".....

Then someone introduced birds and bushes and I just saw myself getting on the wrong side of the mods...........
