The confidence in Jack Bytel is building internally to the extent he is pushing for Round 1. That is straight from the mouth of Ratten at this weeks “ Saints in Law” function.
You keep hearing it from various people this boy is a beauty- hunts the ball, tough, smart and skilled. We need a win in midfield reports are we have found a beauty and look out Dunstan in particular but all midfielders trying to keep their place.
Whilst all the talk is on Max King understandably the talk on just doesn’t stop.
King and Bytel are exciting Saints fans no end bring on 2020.

I played in an under 10 team which had 18 players hunting the ball..
In Fairness one of them went on to play over 200 AFL games, A Premiership and a B&F.

Correct me if I'm wrong ...
"Hunts the ball" to me refers to someone who pursues the ball hard, and with intent - even if they sometimes don't end up with it - i.e., it's the opposite of someone who hangs back and just waits for the easy pickings, an easy handball receive.
Hunter Clark is aptly named.

I have no problem with trolls. They are misguided and naive and don't bother me but I'm not sure your a troll as much as you are a loyalist.
I'm also not sure why you think I don't like Geary. Only met him a few times and he seemed a decent bloke but I don't know him.
Do I think he should be captain? I'm not sure there are many other options. I'd prefer Membrey this year but wouldn't be upset if Geary gets it.
Do I think he is courageous? Absolutely.
Do I think he has been a great lock down defender? Probably in the best 5 Ive seen in 43 years of watching the Saints but in his era 'lock down' means can't do much else.
In 188 games I think about 40 of them have been 'great'.
I think Jarryn has gotten the best he could out of his career. I hope he makes 200 games.
In 43 years there have been big ups and downs for the club and Ive been lucky to see 64 players play 100 or more games for the Saints. I rate Jarryn as the 60th.
He has been very consistent and a source of inspiration for 6 years but he has benefited hugely in his 11 year career from a period where we saw some of the club's greatest ever players leave or retire.
If that offends you then I'm sorry. If he makes the Hall of Fame I will be very surprised.
