Notwithstanding above, quick glance and first impressions I think this draw is a good one. Reckon we’ve done well.

All part of the leg up to Collingwood teams either with 5 day breaks or a return trip from Perth or Brisbane.

Jaysus, that’s a tough start.

West Coast, Richmond, Geelong away, Collingwood all by round 7. Then GWS away in round 9. That’s last year’s top 5 all by round 9.

I would think 14 games at marvel is a fantastic result

Make it a fortress again. Pick sides that can play there

Win say 10 of them and we are up and running.

in Summary:

Home Games ( 10 at Marvel, 1 in China)

Away Games ( 4 at Marvel, 1 each at MCG, Geelong, Perth, Brisbane, Darwin, Sydney, Adelaide )

Play Twice: Geelong ( Rounds 5 and 22), Melbourne ( Rounds 4 and 17), Adelaide ( Rounds 6 and 16), Carlton ( Rounds 8 and 23), and Fremantle ( Rounds 10 and 21)

Bye in Round 12

Overall not a bad draw. 14 Games at Marvel is a good result and we only play Richmond and West Coast once both at Marvel.

good stuff. first ten weeks we get north, melbourne, carlton, all at marvel where we also meet eagles, crows, freo, richmond, and collingwood. only real away games are geelong and gws.
if we aren't sitting in contention by the bye we don't deserve to be.
then we go to china. uh oh. then darwin. later games in adelaide, brisbane and perth.
still we finish with two games at marvel. all in all a very friendly draw. just looks hard because we're crap.

The five day break leading into our first Friday game in two years is a load of garbage.
If we don't perform well in that game, it's hard to see us getting one next season unless we finish deep into the finals.
And we're behind the 8-ball already.

not great but we play all our games in vic in the previous rounds, still early enough it shouldn't have too much effect. pies have a six day break and its at marvel so can't really complain.

I get all that but we're not really set up for success in that game.
Sunday to Friday...I'd love to see an analysis of how many other teams have the same turn around.

we don't need to win it but we need to be ultra competitive in that game. It's our most important game this season. If we do well in that one and rise up the ladder to vie for a finals spot, then we're in line for more prime time games next season.

Not a great fixture at all.
Playing last years top 5 in the first 9 rounds is tough.

Trips to
1 x Geelong
1 x Sydney
1 x China
1 x Darwin
1 x Brisbane
1 x Perth

AFL doing everything possible to get Essendon near the top.
They play 2 finalists from this year in first 7 rounds.

The 5 day turnaround for friday night MAKES NO SENSE.

NONE.

1 at the G is a joke. Should be 3 minimum games a year at G.

China and Darwin? that will kill us. ridiculous.

We are just a club there to make some $$$ more of a business than winning flags.

next 20 years will be 6-18 finishes.

f****** china seriously!?!? the recovery of that f**** us totally. then DARWIN after it?? f****** SERIOUSLY!?!?

s*** draw

From herald sun.com
ST KILDA

Big win: First eight matches in Victoria, seven at Marvel Stadium.

Big loss: Serious lack of prime time.

TV: Only one Friday night game and no Thursday night matches.

Must-see game: Round 1 v North Melbourne. How will the new recruits go?

Club says: “To have no significant travel in the first eight rounds provides our Victorian-based supporters with the opportunity to come out in big numbers and get behind the team.” – acting CEO Simon Lethlean

I reckon the top teams are more gettable earlier in the season than later in the season.
If we are any chance of beating them, I much prefer them early than late while we have most of our best 22 available.
Our best 22 capable isnt that far off matching it with the best - if we can take our chances in front of goal. Our list depth is still a weakness so key injuries hurt us more than other teams

We again have the bye after China. Last year we won in Townsville following the China game.

Without money the club can't win anything. Simple as that.

And if we're good enough, we'll play at least three games at the G. 8-)
