best 22 round 1
A few assumptions regarding how pre season training and games go but here is my guess:
B: Geary , Carlisle, Webster
HB: Savage, Howard,Wilkie
C : Hill, Ross, Jones
HF: Gresham, Membry, Billings
F: Lonie, King, Clark
Foll: Marshall, Steele, Hannebery
Int: Ryder, Dunstan, Coffield, Sinclair
Emerg: Battle, Long, Hind, Parker/
Kent
Robbo not there missed 2years of footy , if he can come back will need some time.
starting to get some depth

I think Battle starts and is key pillar in the best 22. I think him going forward was the reason Bruce leaving was of no concern.

Re: best 22 round 1
What is the fascination with Lonie being in our best 22.
He can't kick more than 35 metres, is not quick, can't take an overhead mark , his tackling is average and misses too many easy shots.
Am I missing something?

Kent was a walk up last year, pretty much confirms the recruit theory.older saint wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2019 7:31pmNo finished the year in the Tigers reserves and Just because a recruit not a walk up start iMOdamienc wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2019 3:51pmNo Dan Butler? Re: best 22 round 1
Lonie had a cracking start to 2019 after a solid finish to 2018. Interesting that at the end of 2018 the club sort Kent, Young & Parker and now we've recruited Butler.
With a forward line that should include King, Membrey and one (maybe two of) Battle, Marshall & Ryder, it will be a pre season battle between Lonie, Long, Kent, Parker, Butler and Gresham for 3 spots in the 22.

Re: best 22 round 1
Lonie can't kick.
If he could kick over 40m and kick straight I would agree we keep him in the team.
Pre-season he needs to work on his penetration and kicking accuracy. But thats not easy to do

Re: best 22 round 1
Battle Howard Coffield
Clark Carlisle Roberton
Hill Ross Jones
Long Marshall Billings
Gresham King Membrey
Ryder Steele Hannebery
Dunstan Bytel Wilkie Butler
Emergency Austin
Considered when available - McCartin
My concern remains that in 60 games last year, deployed on ball, Ross, Steele and Dunstan kicked just 13 goals between them.
We need these 3 to each add dimensions to their games being inventiveness, depth and attacking potency to both hand and foot disposal skills with the result that between them they average 2 goals a game, not 0.2 which is their history.
Past the above 24 we are thin on the ground for the required skills, relying exclusively on players being competitive but lacking run, carry and potency with the ball in hand so inviting unrelenting opposition pressure and the win/loss ratio which has been the record across the last 10 years. So there is opportunity for some whose game time at AFL level has been limited to date to put selection pressure and/or cover for injuries.
In terms of elite players, watch for Battle, Coffield, Clark, Carlisle, Roberton, Hill, Marshall, Billings, Gresham, King, Membrey and Hannebery to lead the way, hopefully supported by McCartin.
Bytel will also be watched with interest.
As will Howard given the "wraps" on him from Port Adelaide. Noting there were "wraps" from the same disgruntled PA sources on Austin (subject to adding kg's to his lite frame)
So enjoy the ride!

Wilkie Brown Paton
Battle Howard Clark
Jones Ross Hill
Gresham Carlise Billings
Lonie King Membrey
Foll: Marshall, hanners, steele
Bench: Dunstan, Butler, geary, roberton
Unlucky: webster, coffield, ryder and McCartin (if fit)
Would love to see them trial carlise up forward for sustained periods of time, if not shift battle forward, I still heavily rate brown, stays in the side if hes body holds up.

Re: best 22 round 1
I dont rate him either, but we are really lacking quality in the small forward department. We could try shift gresham up forward permanently but his efforts at the stoppages often open games up for us. Other than him im not sure what other quality small forwards we have on our list?saintbob wrote: ↑Sat 19 Oct 2019 8:18amrobbie muir wrote: ↑Fri 18 Oct 2019 2:54pm What is the fascination with Lonie being in our best 22.

Hanners has just fractured his foot. Would have to be under some doubt to start Round 1 I would think.
