Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
Not sure how we agreed to it?
I would have called their bluff to see if they really wanted him.
I’d have had no problem if a trade did not get done and Jack had to make a call to quit StK and go to a club that didn’t rate him enough to offer a reasonable trade. Or stay?
Pick 58
Seriously that is what? Eljay Conners or Phillip Raymond?!

We would have been portrayed as the bad guys when in fact Geelong used the mental issues to their advantage. Absolutely stitched up here.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Steven.
I hope Marshall knocks him into the next week when we play Geelong, but I hope that every week about every opposition player

Little tear in the eye watching Jack with his daughter on the video. So sad to lose him, but feel the club has done the right thing and we just have to suck up the pick 58.

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
Can't win every trade and this won we lost. However I don't think it would have changed nuch. What ever pick we got was going to be used to get hill. So it would have gone to Freo and maybe we would not have sent next year's round four pick if it was higher
We just are unhappy as stuvo was worth so much more to us and was a bright light in dark time.
Bye stuvo and thanks for the memories

I suspect whatever we were going to get for Steven was going to be part of the Hill trade. So while I think the pick was unders does it matter, we only had if for moments before it was gone.

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
It's really hard to accept but the Jack Steven we traded is not the Jack Steven who was on our list for a decade until the end of 2018.
We traded the Jack Steven of 2019 and all that comes with that. We traded a player who won't ever play 22 games in the midfield in a season again. We traded a player who doesn't show up for training all the time. We traded a player who doesn't make all the team meetings. We traded a guy who might very well decide during the course of next year that he's done with professional footy for good.
Pick 58 was a fair trade.

Please tell me we are not paying any of his 2020 salary.

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
Lethlean confirmed we are paying part of Jack's salary in the first year of his contract with the Cats.
Some might see this as rubbing salt into the wound of a poor return for Jack.
Lethlean justified it on the basis that it helped to get five good and much needed players into the footy club.
As much as it pains me to say it, he is probably right.

It's not justifiable however which way you shake it.damienc wrote: ↑Thu 17 Oct 2019 10:00am Lethlean confirmed we are paying part of Jack's salary in the first year of his contract with the Cats.

In what universe does paying part of his salary help get five players into the club?
How did that affect every trade?
It doesn't.
Spin doctoring nonsense from a corporate and you swallow it.
In what universe does it make any sense at all for St.kilda to pay Geelong money for Steven to play at Geelong?
And Geelong give back pick 56.
It's a total disgrace... it's completely outrageous.
They treat the members like suckers.
Lethlean cheated on his wife so his handling of this situation is compromised for starters.
Steven was paid $800,000 this year while he got drunk and fat and hardly played.
Steven will get paid money next year to play at Geelong and possibly against St.kilda.
Imagine Geelong beats St.kilda and Steven is the difference.
It's a total disgrace.
I wanted him traded last year for a first round draft pick but that goofball Richardson stopped it from happening.
AND now this.
This does not sit right with me and I will NOT be buying a membership while the club gives money to Geelong.
Totally fricken pathetic.

I think you're getting a bit overexcited there, Barks! I'm no fan of Lethlean but -
Excuse me? And
So is it that genius Ratten that came up with this Steven trade or that cheating adulterer Lethlean (just so's we clear!)

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
What on earth are you on about?
You seem confused so to be clear.
Last year Steven wanted to move to Geelong and St.kilda could land a first round draft pick for him.
I wanted the club to let him go while his value was high.
Richardson stopped this from happening and I thought this was a mistake.
I thought there was better value in getting a first round draft selection as Steven's best football was behind him.
What do Ratten and Lethlean have to do with any of this?
And now stupidly let him go for pick 56 while paying money to Geelong.
To pay Geelong one cent is reprehensible.
Are you any clearer now or do I have to explain further?

What I said was - (a) settle down; and (b) was wondering what Lethlean cheating on his wife had to do with his handling of the trades; and (c) since you seemed to be blaming Lethlean, I wondered how you'd switched back to Richardson as if he was the architect of last season's trades.barks4eva wrote: ↑Thu 17 Oct 2019 11:27amWhat on earth are you on about?

This tells you everything. It basically says that Geelong didnt really want him and theyre doing St Kilda a favour. Hmmmm

I'm pissed off St.kilda is paying money to Geelong for Steven to play for Geelong.
b) Specifically, Lethlean's situation was in relation to his dealing of Steven's situation.
Do I really have to explain this further for you?
NOT tradeS as you carelessly mentioned.
c) Richardson vetoed Steven moving last year and obviously Lethlean did not intercede.
Are you any clearer now?

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
Well Barks,
Steven has just won the B&F in 2018, with no sign of any issues to come.
We trade him and the melts on this place would have been crazy! And it would have been ARs fault... as most things seem to be?

Re: Jack Steven ... 58 :(
BTW
A royal rogering occurred in this trade, and Geelong are laughing all the way to the bank!
I’ve heard we are paying 400k to Geelong. And Geelong have spread his deal over two years, so effectively they are getting a champion for 200k per year
Side note
They are also getting Jenkins for 200k while Adelaide pay 500k... but at least Adelaide got an OK pick for Jenkins.
We got Zac Smiths pick for Jack Steven - laughable!
