Zac Jones is the one that we needed as much as Hill, forget all of the hyberbole and hoopla fans go hysterical about regarding what a player costs and their value, if you just put the names down on a teamsheet and assess what they bring to your side based on needs you soon forget about what they cost. So for mine Hill and Jones are what we really needed this trade period way about the other 3, although the other 3 are a massive bonus.

The speed of Hill and Zac now compliment our other perceived slower mids and inside mids, I think we've got a nice balance now. There is still more work to be done on building our midfield depth and versatility.

Dunstan and Ross maybe the big winners here.

I haven't seen much of Jones playing. Highlights reels always look good. Some people saying his disposal is dodgey, is that true? I thought Ratten wanted the dodgey disposers out and highly skilled players in?

turning over the ball has been one of his weaknesses

Jones will be good and you need to remember Jack Steven won 4 x B&F’s with dodgey disposal

Jack could also really butcher it at times.

I think we now have a nice mix of inside and outside mids.

Inside: Ross, Dunstan, Steel and Hannebery

Outside: Hill, Jones, Billings and Gresham

But I still think this might not be good enough. We’re still missing that elite inside beast (think Cripps). This might be Bytel and hoping that player wasn’t Acres who wanted that role but wasn’t given the opportunity.

Fun times!

Jones has flaws but he was reasonably priced. Don't forget that. He is quick and lays a tackle but does turnover the ball a lot. Dangerous if he plays in the back half, more forgivable up forward.

Jones for Bruce wasn't a winner for the Saints. IMHFO. A real downer for me.

Agree with this, especially as we now don't seem to have a CHF. And please don't say "Battle" because he's doing great right where he is - not unlike Sam Fisher back there.

The fact of the matter is it probably will be Battle at times, and also Howard, Ryder, Marshal and Carlisle, I'd expect these types of players to work that position frequently until Max King establishes himself in the team. One thing is absolutely certain, we've got more choice for the CHF position than any other club in the league, and quality choice. In hindsight Josh was the most obvious player to offer up for trade.

Reasonably priced? Maybe but then Bruce was highly underpriced. We basically traded Bruce for Jones. Not good horse trading imho.

Similar issues to Steven with disposal (and Dangerfield for that matter)

Kicks when running at full noise, and doesn’t steady and compose

Zac turns it over a bit unfortunately

These highlights just reminded me of how damaging he can be and will be playing at Marvel. Ferocious tackler, pace to burn, sells the candy beautifully (almost as good as Lenny) and likes a goal. I think the talk of poor disposal is a bit overdone but we'll see.....fantastic pick up as far as I'm concerned.

Grew up bayside and barracked for Saints.

I love a little romance. Zak’s come home where he belongs.
