If we lose josh Bruce

Post: # 1829711Post saintfox »

Should we make a late play for josh Jenkins?
Would cost nothing as he was told not to attend his exit interview
And could also be a backup ruckman if Ryder falls over

Is Geelong possibly looking at him now?

Once all other trades have been made we can twist the screws on Bruce.

Can keep and pay his salary - make the Dogs pay up now.

Not sure why we allow Geelong & Dockers to screw us to the bone but potentially look like we are releasing Josh to the doggies below his value. He is contracted - hold him

Battle, Membrey, Marshal/Ryder and Max King

All of them not only key forwards but can play ruck or half forward or chb in battles case.

Battle for 39 was pick of the decade btw. Gun.

So Bruce being ONLY a key forward as good as he is and as cool as he is HE doesnt fit in now AND I think we need change as much as possible.
Steven Acres and Bruce going is a good thing. All question marks going forward. Wont have to question Zak or Bradley and Howard sounds like the next Rance.

None of those are effective power forwards

I would think the Dogs are going to have to blink. Bruce and Keath contracted and they are seeing themselves in the window - 12 months is a long time in football and they cannot afford to wait until out of contract.

What is happening with this; been away from the dead all day, just trying to catch up and can't see anything about whether this deal will get done in next 2 hours.

Not a catastrophic trade - but not as bad as the Hill or Steven deals.

Symbolically though, it's disappointing. Heart and soul player gone for little; leaves a gaping hole in our forward line.

The club is getting a bit too keen on the idea of Rowan Marshall as a forward, IMO.

Fox Footy very clear that the Saints wanted both Bruce and Acres gone.

Not if.
He has been traded to the Dogs for picks 32 and 51.
Roughly worth pick 22 or 23 on points.
I hope that is enough for Sydney to give us Zac Jones

True.

I’m just worried what impact letting Bruce go will have.

Club obviously trying to really shake things up a bit. There’s obviously more to it than we know.

Howard coming to us means Battle can become a key forward. Served his apprenticeship down back last year and earned his stripes.

Like Bruce very much but we are looking at the bigger picture.

Don't know. They didn't elaborate.

Assuming a combination of surplus to needs, and salary cap.
