Removing $1.3 million of our 2020 TPP for Steven and Acres combined is a plus though.

Fantastic result! Don't understand the pi$$ing and moaning when effectively we have given up pick 10, an inconsistent (and apparently expensive) Acres, pick 58, future second and fourth (keep in mind that they will be pick 37 and 76 respectively given that we will be winning the flag).
We get Hill and Freo's pick 41 (given they will be winning a wooden spoon).
Happy bloody days! Most significant trade period since Hammil & G-Train.

Agreed. We keep next year's first round pick. That's a win. Bell wanted it and we found another way. Well done Saints and welcome aboard Brad.

I think you are right. Has to be. We don't have anything left to deal with apart from what you say. Or Bruce stays a Saint which is probably unlikely.SMS wrote: ↑Wed 16 Oct 2019 3:58pm Absolutely got reamed!! WTF
Just when I thought we had good negotiators???? why 58??? like seriously WHY??????????????????????
3rd for Acres. Yep ok.
10 and 2nd for Hill? Yep thats fair.
adding 58 and 4th round???? WHY???
What about Butler and Jones?? we NEED those two./ 58 for Butler wouldve been fine youd think.
Now what the f*** do we do?>??
Hill for Steven, 10, 2nd AND a fourth. Are you f****** joking?
Gone from being big winners to god only knows. Only way to face is to get Butler with 76 and Jones for Bruce otherwise we are a joke AGAIN

Also, we need A grade players, no more B level bulls***. About time we got some actual talent here. Ill give up as many 3rd and 4th round picks as it takes if we keep getting the best players in each deal we make.

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
The overall picture is you could argue it this way
We lose pick 6 this year and a second rounder next year = Hill
Blake Acres and a fourth rounder next year = Howard & a 3rd rounder back
Picks 58 & 59 = Ryder

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
I don't see the problem?
We wanted Hill, Ryder and Howard - and we got 'em.
We lost an underperforming fringe player, our 1st pick and a bunch of other junk from future drafts.
I have no problem with that at all.
We've learnt our lesson it seems - second round draft picks in weak and/or compromised drafts is a waste of time.

That is a win for us. Just need to get Jones and Butler now...though I'd be happy to keep Bruce and not get Jones.

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
It was the Steven trade that killed us. We should have a pick int he mid 30s still if that trade was better.....but as it stands we will lose Bruce for Jones.....i am not sold the guys we have brought in make us that much better. But I could be proven wrong. So for all the huff and puff we potentially come out in front....JUST
Is Jones better than Bruce? EVEN
Ryder better than Steven for the next two years? EVEN
Howard better than Acres? YES
Future 2nd better than Butler? EVEN
Hill better than pick 10? YES
Out
Bruce
Steven
Acres
Future 2nd
Pick 10
In
Jones
Ryder
Howard
Butler
Hill

Yes your spot on re the Stevens trade but other circumstances here have conspired against us trade wise but all the best for Jack. Cats unashamedly took full advantage. I cant stand them. They could have been fairer and offered pick 37 then it would have been even trade.

I can’t understand how people aren’t happy that we finally got Brad Hill. So, we had to lose a bit in the process, but to make an omelette you gotta break some eggs.
I’m fine with losing Acres. He was far too inconsistent. And giving up pick 10 in a compromised draft is no great loss either.

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
Absolutely got shafted on this one.
Freo have come out winners i think.
Gallagher and Lethlean have been spanked by Bell and Freo until they got what they wanted.
Totally disappointed in what we gave away to secure Hill
Honestly i just hope we improve with the ins we have but i am not convinced we will.

We had no control over the Steven situation. That was a vey minor factor in relation to the players we brought in

I's be staggered if Hannebury's contract was 800k without performance clauses.sunsaint wrote: ↑Wed 16 Oct 2019 4:28pm800k for hannerbery that didnt contribute last yearsaintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 16 Oct 2019 4:00pm Removing $1.3 million of our 2020 TPP for Steven and Acres combined is a plus though.

I reckon there'd be very few on 'guaranteed' full payment contracts regardless of whether they actually play or not.
Similarly Hill will, I'm sure, have performance clauses in his contract.

MASSIVE OVERS.
f*** he's worth Pick 10 and Acres. Maybe that 58 pick too at a stretch.
That future s*** is a f****** abortion.

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
No doubt a big win for Freo, but we were trying to secure a player who had two year to run on his contract. If it had been one year, then we'd have been in a better bargaining situation. The other thing to consider when coughing up draft picks is that when you secure a high quality player, you are guaranteed a level of output and value to your team. When you draft a youngster, there's only about a 30% that he'll become an A Grader. You're gaining a known quantity rather a hit or miss selection in the draft. And if you look at our record on 2nd round draft selections in the past 10 years, it stinks

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
Thumbs up to;
1. Saints list management on this year's trading.
2. ss1986 on his simple analysis of the trade.
3. cwrcyn see 2 above
For the lazy buggers ss1986 and cwrcyn showed clearly the trade's impact.
Thumbs down to;
1. Jacks Back No if's, but's or maybe's this was a disgraceful post!! We should have traded out his membership too!
2. evertonfc Not as bad as Jacks Back but still damn ordinary.
That's my opinion FWIW.

Re: Hill Deal Done _Details
It was reported on SEN that Acres contract was back ended.
Also, we knew we would have to give a lot as he was contracted. Not sure the fuss.
Isn't that why we are expecting an early pick for Bruce?
