I’ve gone cold on the Hill deal, we’ll be paying overs and I’m sick to death of us getting screwed over by other clubs at this time of year.
Yep, I loved it yesterday when we traded pick 6 but we need to now hold our nerve and make it happen on our terms.
1st round this and a 2nd round next year is all we should be paying
Totally agree with you....the offer is Pick 12 plus next year's second rounder, take it or leave it. To be honest, as much as I'd love to have Hill running around in the Red, White and Black, I'd still be pretty damned happy to be able to bring in Howard, Jones, Ryder and Butler and keep pick 12 for the draft (and hang on to the $900K per year as well).
Apparently Geelong is now trying to pull the rug out from under our feet with an approach to Hill (I'm really starting to dislike Geelong):-

Howard is what I’m most excited about. 199cm defender with proven chops.
It’s not hard to imagine that his availability plus Bell’s nonsense made the club change track.
2020 should be a reset year. Wins are great, but I want the club to develop a culture and build a team around it.
I’ve posted before that Richo’s contract forced him to make finals at the expense of development. Ratten needs a year to develop the environment he needs for success.

Acres has been deployed in the F50 (including having to contest in the ruck) Plus has been used lining up on the edge of the centre square, so as a wing player for lack of a better description noting Melbourne’s comment that they tried 15 thru that position without success last season and have now recruited as they have
To play that position is a thankless task because you can very easily be deployed to running the length of the ground defensively (because you are restricting space). Acres has done thus well (but it remains my view that this is a waste of his talent including because by hand and foot he is so damaging with the ball - note the distance he can handball over)
To suggest he has no defensive asset is an abject nonsense
There are plenty of others such a description could be levelled at - but I note they are never the subject of analysis
How about Acres for Hill & their #26?
Is that enough return for Acres the match winner?

You got us Joffa.
All this time we were secretly thinking Acres is the greatest St Kilda player of all time.
Whilst we are on puerile BS, let me say that I personally think that Freo’s first this year, first next year and Fyfe would be about right.
A Fremantle fan rang SEN a.couple of days ago who claimed to have spoken to Blake Acres' uncle. He said the uncle told him that Acres was really keen to get home to WA. He may get his wish
Don't go Blake!
We want you here.
Let them trade a future pick -- whom we have no idea of what they'll offer.
We know Blake offers class and poise, and with a little more luck, midfield dominance.
Don't go!!
FWIW, I don't see them playing him in the middle either, unless it's on a wing. They have already got a very good large bodied mid (well actually the best), so Blake plays similar to where he has been here.
I would like to see him develop as a mid, although obviously not playing too well against us

Acres gone to Freo for a medical according to tha Age
That means that Freo is entertaining a deal for Brad Hill that would include St Kilda parting with Acres.
But Fremantle have time and are doing due diligence.
I hope St Kilda has given Brad Hill a thorough medical.
Please tell me they have.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

"ST KILDA will continue to monitor an ongoing knee injury being managed by trade target Bradley Hill as the Saints ramp up negotiations to land the playmaker at Moorabbin. Hill's medical testing at the Saints discovered a knee complaint that was carried throughout 2019 – despite the 26-year-old playing all 22 matches in purple. " (afl.com..au)
