Sounds like the Bulldogs were just Wayne King themselves.

If Saints can’t get Max next year we might as well close this sight down and all give up.

Re: Bulldogs and B. King
I just can’t see us making finals next year without Bruce.
If we slip back down the ladder it makes it harder to attract the next big fish. Slip into the 8 and the potential is there for all to see.
Hill will be a great get if he comes but expecting King to hold down FF in his first full year is just to much to ask I think. We need to hold Bruce for 1 more year.
Hopefully I will be proven wrong and the combination of Marshall and Ryder playing forward will take some pressure off King and our small forwards can increase their output.

Re: Bulldogs and B. King
I think that without trading that we just will not get all the trades done. Without these trades, all of them, then we most likely have a poor 2020 whether we have Bruce or not.Zed wrote: ↑Sun 13 Oct 2019 12:36pm I just can’t see us making finals next year without Bruce.

From all reports Howard long-term will actually be an upgrade on Bruce.
Yes without Bruce we may be a lesser team than if we still had him, but without securing all of Hill, Jones and Howard in particular the team will be most likely not be playing finals anyway and we will remain at the base of the ladder.
Add in Hill, Jones and Howard then we should have a much better 2020 than our 2019. Ryder is a short-term fix with pluses and minus, but gives us time to develop a second ruck option whether that be a ruck/forward or a player like Biggy, or even possibly the two King's taking chop-outs to rest Marshall from 2021/2 on.
I think that with these 5 acquisitions that we are much more likely to have a good 2020 than if we kept Bruce (and I think Bruce is quite a decent key forward) as in particular we give our midfield a real boost.
1/ in Hill and Jones rotating through but also 2/ that we will not lose midfield momentum when Bruce rotates into the ruck.
Yes the forward line in 2020 will not be as good as we had Bruce. BUT everything else up the team is better.
From 2021 on Ma king really starts to bloom. Battle should be even better than he is now, and we may possibly have Ben King too. But even without B King our team should be in much better shape that if we had of kept Bruce.
Sometimes to get what you need you have to sacrifice something, and right now Bruce is that sacrifice.

Shrewd move by Sainters in recruiting Jack Bytel. The Kings are really good mates with Jack.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Sat 12 Oct 2019 10:27pm If they want to play together maybe Max goes to the GCS?
Nah!
If Jack and Max start playing a few games together in 2020, the lure for Ben will be way, way too tempting to resist.

Interestingly Joe King was a famous Australian sporting figure who coached many of our top swimmers like Hayley Lewis and Lisa Curry Kenny.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Sun 13 Oct 2019 8:50amI thought there was another set of King twins going to the dogs. But what parent called King would actually call their son Joe!

But is the Tom Boyd bully still there? OR Did they manage him on to another club (with own airport) where all of a sudden blokes are looking for the door???

That wasn't the player I was thinking about who has also left. There's also another that's still there.barneyboyz wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 8:02amBut is the Tom Boyd bully still there? What they achieved in 2016 was exceptional. Probably won't get done again for another 30 years.barneyboyz wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 8:40amHmm, interesting and it makes me wonder how they managed to win a premiership.SaintPav wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 8:18amThat wasn't the player I was thinking about who has also left. Bulldogs did the right thing clearing out a few but took a short term hit. Smart.

We had a PC Knutt - a policeman - visit our school once (many, many moons ago!!). He'd called his daughter Hazel. Well...I did say Max was more a chance to head north than Ben south...AFL's artificial strengthening of the Suns takes its first casualty, our 2020 recruiting.saint-stu wrote: ↑Mon 14 Oct 2019 8:21am Reports today that Ben has re-signed with Gold Coast. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2019/10/13/ ... st-edmund/
