Gee I wish I had the confidence others have about the difference ratten's brilliant coaching is going to make.

It’s not so much confidence in Ratten’s ability but rather further reflecting on just how bad his predecessor really was. The story of Newnes’ actually having to drop himself was somewhat glossed over here by the notion of how mature Jack was and his integrity. But it was yet another example of how literally everybody other than Richo could see the glaringly obvious

Yet Ratten didn't drop him either.

It stems from the same place Western Bulldog supporters drew confidence from when Beveridge took over from McCartney. Fingers crossed with similar results.

Don't get me wrong, my fingers are crossed too. But Beveridge was part of the clean air. There seems to be an assumption that Ratten didn't have much input last season. I'm not so sure.

I'm pretty certain Ratts had a simple job specification this season, just get in and build relationships and observe and take notes.

You also wanna play players you'd like to see move on. That's one reason Ratts played him, I'd suggest.
