Re: Trade Summary...
I've got a terrible feeling we're going to have a careless trade period, paying overs for players to come in, taking unders for players who leave.
This is very concerning. We need to rebuild our list using smarts, not stupidity.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

What do you know?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Let’s leave it!
I’m sick of these clubs expecting Saints to just bend over and take whatever they throw at us.
One year will be our year

Re: Trade Summary...
I think people will be surprised by how little we actually do. Hill and Paddy come, Bruce will go and probably stuvo. That might be it. If we get too clever we may not get hill who we want. I know people don't think he is a pick six but look at the draft pool this year, it becomes pretty average after pick 2.
As long as we don't trade next year's picks I'll be happy

Well if one believes the goss Hill, Jones and Ryder will all join. Gray may join.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Tue 01 Oct 2019 6:38pm I think people will be surprised by how little we actually do. Re: Trade Summary...
I’m inclined to agree
I have very little confidence in the club’s judgment when it comes to assessing a player’s value. We seem to be consistently very bad at it

Re: Trade Summary...
He can play some midfield which is what I image he's being looked at for. Considering we need mids not forwards it still seems weird though. Perhaps they got him mixed up with Robbie Grey.
Jones is the other weird one. He's best off a HBF but played some wing as well. We just went after Hill who he won't be better than so plays HBF or inside mid. Inside he was pretty ordinary at the Swans.

I guess that's the problem with trading future picks.fugazi wrote:Hill is looking like the only quality get this year.
B. King next year.
I really hope we don't bring in a bunch of mature average players. We just need quality. Nothing else will help.

Re: Trade Summary...
Brad Hill is quality
Zac Jones is ok
Sam Gray is not great
Ryder is terrible now, not even in the seniors nowadays
Out
Steven obvious quality
Bruce solid, structurally important
Newnes a gop
Acres a tease

Re: Trade Summary...
My summation too
Not that I am a fan of picking up Ryder as his best years are gone, but that is not so as he did play 17 games last year including the last 5 games in a row.

Re: Trade Summary...
Skeptic, if your mail is correct, then this is THE trade we need to secure over all others.
Give the Suns our pick 6 and throw in a player if need be but the club desperately needs to be bold. Securing the King twins could be a true turning point in the club’s fortunes.
I’m tired of our club playing Mr.Nice guy.... we let Jamie Cripps go for peanuts out of compassion and now we hear similar rumblings with Jack Steven.
Ben King should be the club’s number one priority. If he really has requested a trade to Moorabbin then we bloody well need to ensure it happens. This is St Kilda’s one great opportunity. Don’t blow it, please.

Re: Trade Summary...
I saw the King boys having lunch down at Sandy the other day. Big grins, having fun. Just got a vibe they might be reunited sooner rather than later. It’s wrong to keep twins apart.

He also has spent time in the reserves because he struggled to play in tandem with Lycett

Re: Trade Summary...
According to SEN Dougal Howard has toured St Kilda, Essendon and North. What I have seen of him I have liked. Key defender, not bad by foot and reasonable pace. He also captained port one game this year so has strong leadership qualities. Still only 22.

Re: Trade Summary...
It’s all very well to get excited about players wanting to come to Moorabbin BUT seriously we don’t have much to offer for them. We have four picks only and three of them are 57 and above! Hardly enticing. Are we going to once again use up our future draft picks?
Seriously, the club should aim for Ben King and Brad Hill. Just bring in class. That’s what the club lacks. If we could secure King and Hill in this draft period, it would seriously bolster optimism. The King brothers could be the pot of gold we’ve been desperately waiting for.

Re: Trade Summary...
Dougal Howard...FFS
Now I’ve heard it all?
Why are we chasing defenders... we have a shitload of them... how’s this for an idea
Recruit a power forward to replace Bruce... who we just got rid of for a pick in the thirties
Recruit a decent midfielder to replace Steven

Dougal Howard MD is a better fit than the player formerly known as Paddy Ryder or Chris Masten.SinCitySainter wrote: ↑Tue 01 Oct 2019 9:05pm According to SEN Dougal Howard has toured St Kilda, Essendon and North. Is big, mobile and can play at both ends and the right age bracket.
He wouldn’t be my first pick but would feel a bit better about the Bruce departure if we secured him.

Is he a power forward?
Don’t recall him kicking too many goals, or being that good?

?
What did we get for Bruce? Pick 30? Is that true?
And haven't we just about landed Hill?

Yes an assumption here that Ricky possibly has some inside knowledge within 2 clubs he used to play for.Pundit wrote: ↑Tue 24 Sep 2019 10:58amGolly golly gosh, Rick Nixon being the source of information for a fan forum, that has to be highly credible...Gershwin wrote: ↑Tue 24 Sep 2019 10:34amTalk this morning of Carlisle to Collingwood and Ricky Nixon has mentioned Carlton interested in Dunstan.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Tue 24 Sep 2019 10:28am I thought Alex Keath was off to the Dullbogs with Josh Bruce? There was a point early on when I thought that if Carlisle went - Keath was a must. Then with Carlisle staying I thought he'd be a nice to have. But now that Carlisle stays and Robbo is back in the mix - I think Keath's worth to us is more diminished.
Still annoyed we're going to lose Jack S for 7/8ths of fvck all. Somewhat baffled as to why we're effectively going to swap Josh Bruce for Zac Jones ... Pack crashing heart and soul KF for a dime a dozen not great kicking HB seems dumb to me
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Re: Trade Summary...
Yep generally agree but would ensure that the player who is most influential should not be on a wing but in the action to serve as inside out outside player. Hill is a quality outside player and definitely a wingman. The others may need to play forwards sometimes swapping with Gresh.johnnyrayflamingo wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 10:59amWho are these people?
And no they are not. E.g. I don't agree with Pundits view on Zac Jones. He would be good for us. He played in a GF against the Dogs as a 21 year old. Has tons of pace and ability and hardness. Along with Hill on another wing they could both be very damaging in at Marvel and the G. Chuck Billings in the mix also and we have three very good players running around on the wings each week.
