Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Well it's going to be interested to see what pans out from "The Western Bulldogs have Picks 30 and 41 in the National Draft and the Saints have made it clear they need to attain at least one second round draft pick to execute a range of other deals."

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Very disappointing to hear confirmation of this news.
Let's hope that those we are paying the big money to, have a better outcome in mind for the bigger picture. Somehow, I have my doubts.
You need good players to build a side. Josh was one of them, so how will we do much better through this trade?

Happy with this. We won nothing with him playing at his best can’t see him improving.

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Another example of why modern football has lost the plot with greed and lifestyle. It is all about money to the majority of the players now. How much is enough and what do they think they are truly worth? Harvey and Hayes could have earned a hell of a lot more $$ elsewhere but never left. Yeah good luck to you Bruce, as you put it Asiu. Hope all that extra $$ makes you happier in life.

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
what else can we really say sk ?
he journeyed here from elsewhere
so being a one club man was never on the cards
he certainly played hard for us whilst he was here
... and he deserves our gratitude for that
he was a bit of a fave of mine
... maybe thats why it stings a bit

I don't think it was his preference to leave.
I would have thought the club has told him he is on the trade table and he has stated a preference.
Nee!

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Hopefully Pies make a play for him and we get a bidding war. Late first rounder or two seconds.
Or even Sier from Pies and a second rounder

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Makes sense for Bruce. We were never going to be extending his contract for terms similar to the Dogs offer (and what he is getting paid now by us). Apparently highly paid at the moment.
Makes it not a decision about next year, but the years after that for both parties.

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Not happy at all. Hard working, bullocking, strong marking forwards who stand at 197cm tall are damn hard to find. It seems to me that the club opened the door on this and then the Bulldogs ripped it off its hinges. For those who thought this was a good idea....well........be careful what you wish for.

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Doubt that had to much to do with it. Just think he’s not a natural footballer let alone a forward.

Re: Bruce Requests trade to Dogs
Yes but he was still contracted, so the lure of more $$ is what has made him want to go. That's what makes it harder to accept. Still I'm no blaming Bruce exclusively for this decision.....the salary cap now imho is too excessive. If I had to pay $800K plus a year to a player on our list, I would rather Bruce get it instead of Hannebery or Billings. Bruce can still turn games and win them off his own boot. I doubt an injury prone Hanneberry in the twilight of his career will do that (we all know how hard it was for him just to get on the park this season) and as for Billings, he is a downhill skier, outside player who struggles to kick goals beyond 35m. Bruce will be a loss as he has physical presence, covers a bit of ground for his size and has shown how damaging he can be in the air. The Western Bulldogs and Beveridge aren't stupid to have offered him a more lucrative contract.asiu wrote: ↑Thu 26 Sep 2019 8:42pm what else can we really say sk ?
