Cousins- Ryder and Hill
Ryder said on SEN today that one of the reasons that he was joining St Kilda was that he was always keen to have played with family, and that Hill was his cousin. He also said that Hill was also exited by this aspect.
With Hill and Ryder also both joining St Kilda for 2020, is this the greatest number of players with an indigenous background that we have ever at at the Saints in the one year?

Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hil
Great news.
This could also lift Benny Long, Jade Gresham and Matty Parker to new heights.
There is a good feel at Moorabbin at the moment. Paddy even said it himself.
Things are building.

It certainly adds to his value.
With indigenous players from what I have heard many say in interviews they have to feel comfortable in joining a club.
So gaining Ryder would have made Hill more comfortable in selecting the Saints.

Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hil
Agree and I don’t think Parker will either. But we’ve got them for another year. Given they are both mature aged picks I hope they don’t do the usual dumb St Kilda thing and just blindly extend contracts willy nillyjohnnyrayflamingo wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 2:40pm Robbie Young...not worth mentioning. I don't think he will make it.

Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hil
I think Parker might play another 2-3 years and possibly even a final or two but then his career will probably fall away.
Young might just see out 2020 and return to the SANFL.
75% of mature aged recruits just don't get any better over time.

Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hil
Bad enough we’re taking Ryder but offering a come back to Ben Cousins is stupid.

Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hill
It is for sure and isn't it fantastic. Gee we got a great list happening. One more gun mid is what I'd like to see, probably won't happen this year but if we can burst into the finals in 2020 then we will officially be the destination club of choice.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 12:37pm Ryder said on SEN today that one of the reasons that he was joining St Kilda was that he was always keen to have played with family, and that Hill was his cousin. Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hil
What wasn’t reported was when Paddy visited the Injection Centre at Tullamarine and found a little room that labelled “safe injecting room”. He was told that was a community facility (must clubs have indoor pools and basketball courts etc). Somehow, that’s when he got a “bad feeling” about his former club againjohnnyrayflamingo wrote: ↑Wed 25 Sep 2019 3:15pm https://www.google.com/amp/s/coupler.fo ... a004837c84

Re: Cousins- Ryder and Hill
Love watching the indigenous guns of the comp, and whether coincidence or intention I’m glad we are targeting a few of these boys. Wonder if there are any in the draft we are going for. Or perhaps Bennell?

They are both not listed as Indigenous Australians. And given their place of birth the above two would be unlikely.
That leaves 4 (2020 we will have 6, maybe more...) .
Jim Krakouer
Nicky Winmar
Russell Jeffrey
Gilbert McAdam
By the time Kickett started Krakouer had left.
