Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
14 for Bruce is the best deal the Bulldogs would get of any of the 8 Key Forwards who kicked more goals than him this year. I believe, they believe, they will put him in the top 5 goal kickers and them in the top 4. So 14 is about on the money.

14 good for them but leaves us very undermanned in the forward line.

Steven a year ago would have gained a first rounder. Now he will not.

Geelong get him cheap and we have to watch him back to his best against us.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2019 8:37pm

Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
We should just abandon this strategy.
We actually have a good goal kicking CHF...that's not the problem....delivery is the problem.
Keep him, whatever we get will be unders.
Max King is 2-3 years away from being AFL KP ready.

Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
Don't trade Steven or Bruce.. Trade 5 for hill with something coming back.. Hill with Steven and BRUCE is a better team.. I'd rather Steven not play a year.. If he is not getting his wish.. Ffs. It's footy its war.. f*** Steven. There are millions of Australians under financial pressure.. And with mental health issues none of them with the opportunity steven has.. It's just footy he is priveledged.. Over priveledged.... Sick of let's do what's right for Jack.. Millions of Australians are suffering.. Hold him to his contract.. And if he doesn't want to play.. So be it.. How many of you care about Joe average on the streets with mental health issues.. Jack is a footballer he is no more important than anyone else.. Except he is a millionaire.. It's bulls***.. He can walk away from football if its too hard and have a nice life..

Agree. Unless we get something stupidly overs offered, Bruce is required player IMO.

I really like Bruce but I'd take 14 for him. Battle up forward and we must retain Carlisle..

We do not have a choice. If he wants to go the club will accept it. This is the reality of the situation.

Thats the sort of stupid overs Im talking about. Now if we can wrap up pick 14 and say an Acres for Hill and then keep 5....thats a trade worth doing.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2019 11:30pmNow that would be 'bold'. I think trading Acres is one that may come back to bite us.stkfc1 wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 3:25pmThats the sort of stupid overs Im talking about. Brisbane traded Yeo when he was similar to what Acres is now and West coast received a star player.

We either keep him to make a point, and he barely plays a game for us.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2019 11:45pmWe do not have a choice. If he wants to go the club will accept it. This is the reality of the situation.
Or let him go and get at least sonething in return.
Unfortunate situation - but what can you do?

Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
Acres is a required player
Bruce is a required player
Steven is a required player
Carlisle is a required player
We have plenty of players who are surplus to requirements including because of the emergence of Clark and Coffield and the ability to use Steven and Gresham as “small forwards” plus the hope that Long will impact (because he shows the necessary periodically but in flashes only)
St Kilda are in the position where 15 places are required players - and it is the next 7 that saw us lose to Carlton and Sydney
You don’t cut your class when you are in the position St Kilda are in - because we do not have enough class players or potential class players
The Brownlow voting will confirm that what we have is a core of 15 who have evidenced potential - and we need to back them in
And add Hill, King and Bytel
And hopefully the likes of Austin and Claravino
Plus we await reports on McCartin and Roberton who are both under the radar at present

Just out of interest, what measures are you grading our 'class' players on? I'm just curious. To the top wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 8:54pm Acres is a required player

Can you provide a direct comparison in any sustained measure that makes Acres a class performer.

Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
Simple
Watch and appreciate his impact
You could put that he needs consistency but that consistency is down to opportunity including because he frequently lines up in the attacking 6
Where he does need to work is his overhead marking
A required player
I also need to be convinced he is over the injury which curtailed his 2018 season - they can linger and be debilitating
Fully fit and correctly deployed his ball winning attributes along with the potency and depth of his foot and hand disposals he is one of our best players

Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
As if the Saints would trade Bruce to Footscray for a 2nd round pick and then use it on Zak Jones from Sydney as per Herald Sun reporter Sam Landsberger.
Jones' disposable is shite at best, a turnover merchant.
Is that the best Allan can come up with.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Yep, must keep. Unless the dogs want to give us two first rounders or the Bont.

Well they seem pretty certain in the paper.
Seems insane to me.
Marking CHF for a turn over merchant half back flanker.
Brilliant.

Re: Josh Bruce to be traded?
Beggars belief really .
If there were an equivalent player to Bruce on the market we would probably be chasing him as backup for King who hasn’t played a senior game.
And Ratten has said that kicking skills are going to be a priority yet we are targeting a player who is not recognised as a great kick.
And I’m yet to hear of a proposed deal for Jack Steven that doesn’t involve us being played and taken advantage of.
Not impressed.

I don't thing Lethlean is the type to bend over to any club.
He’s a ruthless c***. Well, that's what I'm hoping.

I'd be fuming if we got Jones as a replacement for Bruce - NOT like for like as Bruce is far more valuable

Well not that I understand the logic, but St Kilda collect half back flankers like no other club.
