Re: Danny's Memorial- telecast
Am a bit confused about tomorrow.
Is the Moorabbin town hall funeral a private service with StK supporters to watch it at Linton St?
Or
Is the town hall service for everyone, with overflow numbers to watch at Linton St.?
i.e. trying to work out if I go early to the town hall or just front up at Moorabbin?

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

The actual funeral is a private service.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Tue 17 Sep 2019 10:25pm Am a bit confused about tomorrow.

DETAILS:
Funeral starts at 3pm AEDT
Private funeral service at Kingston Town Hall
So unless you have an invite you should go to RSEA Park for the live-stream, or watch it on Foxtel, or one of the other available links.

Re: Danny's Memorial- telecast
I watched it at RSEA Park. They did lose the telecast when Gally Lyon spoke but was rectified after someone pressed a button. Whoops!
Was a great service - only thing missing was Plugger speaking.
Being on the ground seeing Danny’s final lap was very moving. Anita and her girls walking behind the car was both haunting and beautiful.

Plugger isn't the type to speak in public.
But I hope he was there.
Danny was about the only link Plugger had with the club.
Nicky was at Linton St earlier in the week leaving a condolence message.
You are right, the service was excellent.
Just the right blend of people.
Was really heartening to hear the Richmond boys speaking so passionately about Danny.
Didn't realise how big an impression he made at Punt Road.
Thought that non-footballer from Richmond (didn't catch his name) spoke brilliantly.
Some great stories.
The Lyon one about Ross Oakley catching them out playing cricket on the job was soo Dannyish!

Yes on the coverage you could clearly see Plugga sitting in the audience.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 2:35am

Also on 7 news in the general footage you could see him walking outside.

I have a Foxtel Go but don’t seem to be able to log in on my Foxtel app.
I searched it on Foxtel Go but it didn’t come up.
Will have another try later.
If anyone has a Foxtel Go link I’d be very appreciative.

Enrico, I think that man's name was Noel Duncan. He was brilliant, an excellent eulogy. Schwass was excellent also. As well as the still too raw emotion on Lyon.
Anita & the girl's video eulogy and tribute to their great husband, father and friend was incredible, very moving and captured the essence of their man.

I just searched Joffa, the same. Unable to locate the funeral, only the tribute piece done by his friends at Fox Footy.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 9:09am I have a Foxtel Go but don’t seem to be able to log in on my Foxtel app.

Re: Danny's Memorial- telecast
Correct. Noel Duncan was a coach at Collingwood when Spud was an Assistant to Tony Shaw. Spud then took him to Punt Rd when he got the head role there. Noel's speech was terrific - perfectly illustrated the ying/yang of their personalities with his deadpan delivery. And yet - still funny and poignant.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 10:02am Enrico, I think that man's name was Noel Duncan. He was brilliant, an excellent eulogy. Schwass was excellent also. Yes, Plugger was there. He stood away from all the players, personalities etc and stood about where the St Kilda race/animal enclosure used to be.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 2:35amThat damn "back" button and the 60 second countdown to oblivion.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Wed 18 Sep 2019 8:41pm I watched it at RSEA Park. I hope many more people take male mental health more seriously now. Wayne Schwass was perfect in his speech in what he said at the funeral. It should be shown to kids in every classroom across Australia at a high school age. Unbelievable speech for men.

Re: Danny's Memorial- telecast
I managed to get along to Linton Street for the service relay. managed to keep it together until I filled out a condolence message, and realised the enormity of our loss. It was then that the tears flowed almost immediately I bumped into a good Saints pal and by us chatting together some composure was restored. I have to say, that the club were magnificent in the manner in which the service was organised. Spuds immediate, beloved family, were SO incredibly brave, so dignified, on the final lap of an oval their husband and father graced for so long and so valiantly. It's at times like yesterday, when one realises that football is SO much more than simply "results" or "ladder position"
I laughed at the anecdotes. I cried at the sight of his widow and daughters. But amidst the pain, I felt SO proud to be a small part of this CLUB!
Rest in Peace dear man!!
One of a kind!
One in a MILLION!
One of our OWN!!!

Re: Danny's Memorial- telecast
I went to Moorabbin it was a really classy well put together day... it was so sad I barely kept it together...
Moorabbin was always a place of excitement fun and entertainment I never thought I would ever see our great captain’s funeral service there.
It really is our spiritual Home and I was like a little kid when I stood next to Plugger I was star struck he will always be my hero.
Sticks Kernahan stood next to us paying his respects I know he loved Danny...
Heart breaking day I still can’t believe he is gone...
RIP Captain we will never forget you

Re: Danny's Memorial- telecast
Completely agree. Six men a day kill themselves in Australia. Six. One very four hours. Not in any way to diminish the mental health struggles of women (two a day). Those figures reflect the male culture we’ve grown up in. Tough it out, don’t be vulnerable, don’t feel lost, basically - don’t feel. And if you do, shut the f*** up about it. So many men isolated in their inner unhappiness, trying to put on a brave face to fulfil the masculine image we’re supposed to project. Alcohol, drugs, porn addictions, violence - all products of men being taught to clam up and not genuinely relate. Toxic masculine culture still rules.johnnyrayflamingo wrote: ↑Thu 19 Sep 2019 2:03pm I hope many more people take male mental health more seriously now.
