I've heard the same thing. And I don't think it would be a bad thing at all. I can't imagine how they could possibly make the B & F this year the night that it deserves to be. A B & F - regardless of the W/L for the year - is always supposed to be a celebration of the deeds of the past season and a cause to reflect on how best to use the learnings of the year to improve.

It would be utterly impossible for any of the faithful to truly enjoy tomorrow night's function without the overt sadness of Spud's recent passing looming so large. I can see it being more like a de-facto wake than a B & F. It's also not particularly fair on the receivers of the awards to have their achievements overshadowed in such a way. I dont reckon there'd be a tougher gig in Melbourne right now than having to MC our 2019 B & F.

Hopefully, it can be postponed until after Spud's funeral and the Saints family can have the necessary time to grieve one of our true greats.'

Venue?

These functions are traditionally held at Crown so the ability to postpone would not be in play

Other Clubs hold their functions there also - including Geelong

No doubt it will be a sombre event including paying respects to Danny and the Frawley family

It also visits events on others including our Coach

But Danny would be wishing and expecting that we all become stronger in his image

It would have been very difficult to change the date as players make their holiday plans around the B and F. Half of them will fly somewhere on Thursday.

I would not regard it as a Plan B.

No need to cancel. Yes change the night to celebrate Danny. Yes it will make in more sombre, but remember that this a CLUB and not a business function.

Clubs, are like families and you take the good times with the bad.

Everyone being together will be a key part of the healing process and it is actually better to still run the night than to postpone it.
