Tragic...our whole family is shattered. Spud was a great character and a real joker. Not many captains would go to a teammates' house late at night and do a 'drive-by egging' for a laugh. Happened to be Banger's nice home too!

Went to Western Oval for his last game and the team won and gave him a great send off. Only time I went to that S..thole of a ground.

He went through the tough times at st.kilda, he was our reliable captain, a rock in the backline... He captained us back to finals after a long drought and bought much joy to many during and after is playing days...
