Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
What we MUST do
IN: Hill, Tomlinson, BKing, Constable, Keath, ZJones
OUT: Carlisle, Bruce, Steven, Newnes, Lonie
Do all the above WHICH WE CAN then we become a good side with big future.
Carlisles back is screwed get something for him now
Bruce is a forward only. He cant ruck or defend. Game is past him plus he broke his leg dont forget, issues will ensue.
Newnes is a deadset liability and Lonie cant kick over 40m or straight easy goals.
But they have value so get something for them.
Constable and Bytel could well be the beginnings of a new midfield. Tomlinson and Keath to be key defense
Jones and Hill wingers!
Wed suddenly have a very good team by 2021

Personally I’d rather keep Bruce and Lonie.
Would rather lose Kent then Lonie.

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
Kent just fumbles the footy too much. I like him and Lonie tbh, but did he fumble it at the Dees? became contageous at times
If Lonie hadn't been injured, who knows what he would have achieved this year? he was certainly going well

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
Should have been clearer regarding stuv. He had a crap season, no argument there and came back unfit physically and mentally. If he turns that around next year he will be close our best player next year and a new coach may do that. May being th key word
Constable is an unknown quantity. Sure he has potential but so does every young player, and he could be a gun it he could suck. I'd prefer the gun we have for another year rather than take a risk on one of our best
But in saying all that I expect him to go and we get their first round pick especially if they play in the grand final

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
Unless he declares he wants to finish his contract and agrees to play part time mid and small forward the trade should be done, no matter what we get. His commitment and loyalty is the only measure we can consider.
Constable would seal the deal. A second rounder would be ok but another year like this one would be disastrous.

After what I've heard in the last 24hrs we need to move Steven on. Not going to elaborate but coming from a VERY reliable source and we need to part ways with him.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Tue 03 Sep 2019 12:01pm Should have been clearer regarding stuv. Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
I reckon Stuv, Carlisle and Bruce are gone. To be honest, holding onto Stuv could actually hold us back unless he is 100% committed and healthy.
We need players and picks. It is time for a bit of a sale.
I would hang onto Lonie. I thought he was almost our barometer early this season before that fucker did his knee for him.
I would be very keen to get Ben King in. Very keen.
King, Tomlinson, Battle, Clav, Savage, the Tasmanian Bogun, Gears makes a decent back six. Plus potentially Keath keeps Battle available for a forward spot in the absence of Bruce.
Hill on a wing. Constable would be a decent get but I really wanted to bend Geelong over for more.
Just wait till we get big Maxy up. I dont know how many of you guys saw him at Sandy, but there were glimpses. He could be scary good.
We need to split that first pick and send one to Freo, keep one and give a future and a player to GC for King.
The player would have to be established and decent.
We still need another good mid desperately. I am convinced that Bytel will be a win but we still need another. Dunstan and Ross could both be shopped really. Newnes should be.

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
Fat Hutchy mentioned something on Footy Classified that pricked my ears up. Did anyone hear it or can they post the trades he suggested. Lloydy, Judd and Hutchy each made some suggestions and I think the Hutchy one was the one most 'outside the box'.
The conventional thinking is that we recruit Ben King...what if we leverage the fact that the twins want to play together and leverage the fact that The Suns are wanting young guys to commit long-term. We may be able to gain one of their first round picks along with Jack Martin

Max King & ?? to Gold Coast
Picks 1 & 2 to Saints
Rowell & Anderson selected by Saints
King twins to Saints in 2 years time for our two pick ones (consecutive years), and whatever else ...
and I hate Fat Hutchy
not because he is fat
and he is fat
because he talks s***
every time he opens his big fat mouth

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
I saw that one as well
it does pose an interesting scenario
the two very best on ballers in the draft
get the kings (if either of them are good later) and seeing how they so much want to play for the saints we will be in the box seat

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
Stupid trading max king to suns. I saw him play at sandy and he was honestly just ok. But that was due to his frame. He was too light and got knocked out of the way alot.
Bit I know why they call him Winx, the kid glides accross the ground, it's so smooth and he has great hands. And he can get the ball off the ground which is impressive for a big guy.
He will take time to come good but look at his twin Ben, he is already showing good signs up north and max is the better and slightly taller one.
Be patient and get ducks in a. Row for Ben. He will want to come home and we are in the box seat to get him. Don't trade next year's picks, keep them for the full house, jacks and Kings

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
Shopping list appears to be:
B. Hill (outside mid / wing)
Z. Jones (inside and outside mid with speed)
Keath (tall defender)
S.Gray (small forward)
Tomlinson (can play relief ruck and is a genuine utility)
Ryder (ruck)
Another ruck?
B. Hill (outside mid / wing)
Z. Jones (inside and outside mid with speed)
Keath (tall defender)
S.Gray (small forward)
Tomlinson (can play relief ruck and is a genuine utility)
Ryder (ruck)
Another ruck?

Re: Everyone is coming? Surely not!
All players in the AFL are available, just a matter of how much the Saints want to spend and how long they want to spend in court.
