Has anyone other than Ratts and Banger been interviewed for the job?

Why does it take so long to appoint someone to steer the Titanic. 😇

It makes sense to announce the head coach next week when no footy is on. Equally it made sense this week however I imagine they were still going through the process. My guess is next Tuesday.

Yes sorry. Longmuir is who I meant. He has inferred that he was not successful.

God I hope they don’t wait that long. Not that it really matters considering trade week is still about a month away.

Just be nice to lock in a coach and ditch some of the many duds still on our list

It seems unlikely that Ratten will get the gig now and I'm not unhappy with that.

Although he only had six weeks to show what he could do, only the first win over over the Dogs had any serious merit.

In all the other games it was the same terrible skill errors on display and it only got worse over the last three or four weeks, culminating in a blowout vs the Swans, given that we actually led the game by a kick early in the third term only to lose by eight goals!

If the club were enamoured with him he would have been appointed by now.

The delay in naming a new coach is curious and makes me think that a big fish has become available, whether it be a head coach or coaching mentor for a first-time head coach.

In the latter scenario it would seem that either Harvey or Longmuir will get the gig, while the former scenario is even more intriguing.

Who could it be?

If Ratts had the job you would think that the club would have announced it by now, and moreso with a major assistant appointments like Roughie having now occurred. So it is plausible that the Coach is known but not announced.

Tony74 has indicated that they are checking tings. But surely the lawyers would have drafted up the paperwork ready to go. Though the incumbent may have had some requests requiring amendments, But this should not take that long.

So if the club does not say announce on Monday that Ratts has the the job, I would estimate then that it is quite possibly someone else and that they are working as an assistant at a club in the finals.

So Harvey, Mitchell, Lenny and Longmuir?

Longmuir I think not that likely.

With potential recruits like Hill in play you would want the club to be in the position of telling such players who their new coach would be.

I just repeat that it is my understanding that the successful candidate has been so advised

Who?

Have not got a clue

But I also understand that the Net has been cast wide including names not made public - including some well regarded and credentialed candidates with Clubs which are on the cusp of finals football

So we may be waiting

The apprenticeships of AFL Coaches have evolved as they have, with Coaching Certificates and wide experience including as Assistant Coaches at AFL Clubs (including plural) and coaching in the likes of the SANFL (think Clarkson who coached Central Districts)

A very long way from a 19 year old Haydn Bunton jnr being appointed a playing coach in 1957

In fact, playing coaches have entirely disappeared

The coach has been announced.
The team is now uncoachable.

You would think that Roughy would want to know who the coach will be before accepting the position.

Was thinking same when his appointment was confirmed. Surely he would want to know who is coaching before agreeing to a position with us.

Ratts would be his preferred choice you would think but he is a professional and would not refuse to work with someone else, depending on who it is I suppose.
