It is exciting but very risky. I don't think there is 100 games there and we loose over 400.
Webster Roberton Savage and Brown become pivotal experienced players. Webster and Savage never quite having become reliable and Brown and Roberton closer to an end than a platform to build off. After those 10 it drops away dramatically.

I reckon they'd take Carlisle for King straight out.

I'd take it. Carlisle is a genuine gun, but I think given we're still basically in rebuild mode, getting twin brothers who in all probability could be stars of the comp at each end of the ground within 2 years and for the next 10 - I'd do the swap.

It is only a matter of time before Gold Coast come good. Once they start winning games which could still be 2 years away, all of a sudden they will have a whole list of top 10 players. Their next coach will have an embarrassment of riches to work with. Once that happens everyone will want to go there and everyone will want to stay there.

I think if we can prize King out of them we should do it this year. Geary only has 2 years left maximum and Carlisle has his injury concerns and is also approaching 30. If we can convert 2 ageing players plus pick 5 into Ben King I would be rapt.

Logan Austin will be able to assume the Carlisle role. He is a much better player than most people realise. He is now over his injuries and looking forward to a full pre-season. And don't forget, since Carlisle was traded to St Kilda he has missed just about as many games as he has played for us.

Regarding Geary, I admire the bloke for what he has achieved. Full of heart and work ethic but he has been overtaken by many of our younger players and if he was to depart we would not miss him.

Gold Coast will want our 5 and something else for King. Fair enough too. Freo will want a first rounder for Hill.

Here's a possibility, Pick 5 for Hill, just get it done. Bruce, next years first and perhaps another pick, for King.

Isn't that what Luke Ball did to us? Buckley did it when he dumped Brisbane. Buckley chose Collingwood and a deal was done. Yeo also did it when he chose West Coast.

Our players which includes the two mentioned in this thread have been drastically overpaid so the club can meet minimum cap requirements. They have no need to transition into retirement or search for a pay day because they are already getting it.
