SAM MITCHELL!
Did anyone just hear Crawford speaking of Sam Mitchell and enthusiastically endorsing him as a coach READY TO GO.
According to Crawford it’s all about timing, and if the right approach was made right now, he’d jump at it.
This is our moment St Kilda, if we want to set a new course for this club, MITCHELL IS THE GUY.
GET IT DONE SAINTS, GET IT DONE!!!

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
If Mitchell really wanted to coach St Kilda he should apply like everyone else. An untried assistant should not be chased, in my opinion.

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
You target what’s best for the club with conviction and aggression - you snooze you lose!!
It’s not up to Mitchell to engineer St Kilda’s rebirth. That job is the responsibility of the current gatekeepers at the club, and if they are worth their salt, they’ll get it done.
FFS SAINTS, GET IT DONE!!!!!

Agree, we can’t afford to punt on an untried assistant this time. Too much is at stakeGhost Like wrote: ↑Thu 29 Aug 2019 9:08am If Mitchell really wanted to coach St Kilda he should apply like everyone else. An untried assistant should not be chased, in my opinion.

Would he give Jake Carlisle the injector sign every time he saw him?

Ratten - Director of Coaching / elevate position with Sam Mitchell as Head Coach. That would work for me.

I think the club should go to the nuclear option.

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
We've seen plenty of recently retired legends crash and burn when given senior coach positions too early. Gotta be a no from me

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
I've no dramas about getting an untried coach, afterall, all the flags since 2010 have been won by untried coaches.
Whose word do we take, Shane Crawford's or Nathan Buckley's? I'd go with the bloke who bothered to apply.
Blight was the last person we convinced to coach who didn't care enough to apply & people want to do that now with an untried?
As Harry Hoo says, "Amazing!"

That's the 3rd or 4th coach Clarko has endorsed as ready to go including Ratten. The Linton Street Flash wrote: ↑Thu 29 Aug 2019 9:03am Did anyone just hear Crawford speaking of Sam Mitchell and enthusiastically endorsing him as a coach READY TO GO.

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
Crawford referred to Mitchell for tearing apart West Coast game plan on the weekend; in a game WC ahead to win!!! He said he is the closest thing he has seen to Clarkson. Hard, tactical and has the drive.
When was the last time we saw our coach win a game due to tactical nous? You go back to Lyon days.

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
He'd be an excellent choice.
Mitchell is a win at all costs person, doesn't worry about niceties, being polite, or crushing feelings, just wants to win.
It's what we need.

Always my first choice.

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
Does Mitchell have the people skills to be a senior coach?? If what I've heard about him from guys within the AFL is correct, he may be too aloof and arrogant to be in an all encompassing role that requires more than just tactical brilliance

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
I have given this a lot of thought and whilst I'm on record as being in favour of either Brett Ratten or Brad Scott being the next St Kilda coach, the idea of Sam Mitchell getting the job is very appealing.
His pedigree is most impressive: Hawthorn skipper, multi premiership player, assistant at WCE when they won a premiership last year, assistant under Clarkson this year, he would have to rate as the best qualified to become a successful senior coach. Although he has indicated some time ago that he has no ambitions to step up to the next level just yet, there is no doubt that he is more than ready to do so.
With both Carlton and North Melbourne going for generational change in selecting their new coaches, coupled with the success of Adam Simpson at WCE, I am warming to the idea that St Kilda should do likewise. His appointment would certainly foster a new degree of excitement for the club, the players and supporters.
Let's hope that the panel selecting St Kilda's coach in 2020 will include Sam Mitchell in their deliberations.

Good idea. I'd endorse. Sam Mitchell is 36. Allan Jeans was 33 when he led us to the summit, so why not.Waltzing St Kilda wrote: ↑Thu 29 Aug 2019 2:56pm Always my first choice.

Re: SAM MITCHELL!
Mitchell WILL be a multi premiership coach.
He grew up a Saints fan, played in 4 premierships, helped steer West Coast to an unlikely premiership, and is ready to take it on.
Crawford obviously is close to the brains trust at Hawthorn, Mitchell included, and If you read between the lines of what he was saying this morning, it's pretty bloody obvious that Mitchell is there for the taking.
Sam Mitchell would have an immediate impact at the club - players would want to come, members would want to sign on, sponsors would want to spend.
It's time someone came in and turned this club upside down.
Ratten as Coaching Director, Roughie as mentor/player welfare bloke, and Mitchell as Senior Coach.
If we don't get him we'll regret it, mark my words.
