Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
He's coming to Perth, pretty sure.
I live in Perth.
Club just sent me an email offer- i buy pet food brand Eukaneba, log in, quote a code, and I go into a draw to win a 'kick to kick' with 8cres
I live in Perth, so he must be coming over
The kick to kick will actually be a 'kick to run' because when he kicks it, it could go anywhere

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
Acres is a very frustrating individual. I agree with you. He does have some extraordinary talent. I really thought he would turn into an A grader. But for whatever reason he has never fulfilled his potential or he’s been badly coached. Really doubt whether we will ever see what he can really do as a Saints player. If he can help us get Brad Hill then I am happy to see him go. Never thought I would ever say that.

He's had Richo for nearly 6 years.
Whoever our next coach is, will that guy get the best out of him? Will they understand him better, motivate him, give him better direction, upgrade the game plan, design tactics around the players, rather than what AR did- force players to adapt to the plan?
If Ratts gets the job, he's moving out poor users, does he see potential in 8cres, to persist with, or will he gamble on his trade value?
Sliding doors...

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
Seriously... what has Acres done besides "be tall"?
I think we massively overrate him based on potential, but he's had a big opportunity over a fair number of years and been inconsistent at best. If we can get some serious talent for him, why not?

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
One way or another we'll find out how he's rated. Personally I hope we keep him, like others on our list, he seemed to be going in the right direction before stagnating or going backwards.
Nothing wrong with his disposal (77%), one of the few that draw tackles and tries to put the ball to the advantage of team mates.
He may be the size of Fyfe & the Bont but he's not either, very few are, he's versatile & talented in my opinion, something that is scarce at St Kilda.

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
Acres disposal this year for the most part has been good. Problem is his possession count has gone backwards for some reason

Because he’s played Forward generally... because he’s not good enough to play as a mid

And he’s not 194cm, that’s taller than Nick Reiwoldt.

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
Had a severely disrupted 2018 - missing how many games thru what injury?
And missed the first round in 2019 thru what injury?
Acres has real ability and skill - and when we win it is because of his performance - including over a period of the games including because responsibility is handed to him (instead of languishing in the forward line)
His disposal is first class both by foot and by hand - plus he is inventive changing direction to advantage leading to many goals
Why would you consider trading a player who is instrumental in your wins
Interestingly our results in 2018 corresponded to his unavailability because of injury (a persistent groin problem if my recollection is correct)
Acres wins games for us
My suspicion is that the injury which curtailed his 2018 is still present - and that is the reason he has been significantly used in the forward line instead of the mid field where he should be rotating
His size makes him hard to tackle - and hard to stop him from effectively using the ball to advantage
Some on here watch a different game from what I watch
I don’t know what their background is, but I know mine
I also understand that Acres is more that happy at St Kilda
If you are looking to improve our performances I would suggest that you look elsewhere than Acres

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
Hmm. Why would Freo want Acres? He would apprentice well under Fyfe and would make matching up on them a nightmare. Speculation maybe, but it makes sense now Hill and his manager have spoken.

I feel your pain. But.....with the greatest respect you are not thinking about what we will get in return. To the top wrote: ↑Wed 28 Aug 2019 8:53pm Had a severely disrupted 2018 - missing how many games thru what injury?

B. Hill is an absolute champion. Gets the ball a lot and delivers it beautifully. Just what we need. Plus he's come off career best form and he is only 26.
Hill has consistently been one of Freo's best all year. It is logical and fair enough that they would want something good in return.
I hate to say it, because I am a real fan of Acres, but if he is what it will take to get Hill then, in my opinion, it is worth it.

Re: Acres rumoured in Hill trade.
I've been a huge supporter of Acres since he was drafted but this year I have lost a lot of faith in his future. Yes he has been horribly utilised for his entire career, culminating in his bizarre third tall forward/ruck role this year - but even when given stints in the midfield he hasn't impacted the way I had hoped. He may well finally become that 25 disposal, 5 mark, 5 clearance mid that he sometimes looks like if managed correctly but I'd be fine with him being involved in a trade for Hill, Martin, Crouch or King.
