Rank our season out of 10
For me 3/10
Some improvement from last year and some promising finds in Wilkie, Hind and Parker. Good break out year from Clark, Roma and Coff looks ready to go
However
Took too long to move on Cho
3-5 year players are consistently ordinary plodders
And in the end we finished 14th with 16th ranked percentage
Pretty ordinary really

The above 6 players you identified are what encourage me that the future has some light but they will end up mushrooms and not blossom unless we remove the s*** that is covering them.

6/10
9 wins given the injuries, not too bad.
Wins vs WB, Hawthorn, Essendon
Marshall, Billings, Steele, Membrey had very good seasons

4/10 (equates to 9/22)
Horrendous year with injuries but same old same old and still can't execute.
Tellingly, not that competitive against the top 6 teams.

4 out of 10
9 wins with the injuries we had but it’s now 8 years without finals.
AR kept on a year too long because they didn’t want to pay him out compare that to Freo who have wasted no time moving Lyon on.
Marshall Clark Wilkie Hind and to a lesser extent Parker great finds.
Billings and Gresham took the next step.
It’s a young list, we have salary cap space they have to nail Free agents it’s now or never for this club.
New decade, new coach, new start....

Given where we came from and the fact that we didn’t play great footy, 6.

Re: Rank our season out of 10
I was gonna say four, but...
Look at Hawthorn yesterday. An average team up against one of the best, a premiership favorite, playing on its home deck interstate, and the Hawks won’t give up. It’s true, there was a slim chance of finals, but they played well and hard and against the odds, win.
Vs us. Sydney aren’t much chop and they are weighed down with ageing stars saying farewell.
Three
Freo may have just been inspired by us in moving on the coach...
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Rank our season out of 10
thought we'd finish lower so a 5, but didn't come close to any top 6 team and lost to two lower teams. Also thought we moved richo on far too late. should've gone after China and had a better look ar Ratten. Didn't see anything from his time that looked inspiring, but nothing that looked damming either, aside from the fact it looked like more of the same, which is understandable given the time he came in.

If we had won yesterday everyone would have said 6.5

Re: Rank our season out of 10
After watching the last 2 games we have dropped dramatically in my personal ranking...as the op said, we have unearthed some talent, but we are so far away from being a good side.

Re: Rank our season out of 10
I would only give us a 4/10.
Mainly that is due to plodding along for almost the whole season losing in the same old fashion that we did last year. Too slow to act on the coach and it really just made 2019 another season of nothing. If anything the biggest positives would have to be Marshall, Billings finding a position finally and perhaps Josh Battle?
But I'm reaching.
The place is a s*** show at the moment. Hopefully the new coach can just hack away at the dead wood.

Re: Rank our season out of 10
5/10
9 wins is a good effort for a team with woeful skills, a C grade midfield and very poor conversion in front of goal.
Good luck to the next coach.
Can the club please stop recruiting Swans hacks.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Rank our season out of 10
I rate us as 2/10/
Our football team continually butcher the ball with their poor skills and inaccurate kicking at goal. Add to this a distinct lack of mongrel and desire to win and hence my poor ranking.
At the age of 56, I now genuinely believe I will not see us win a premiership in my life time.
What hurts the most is that we squandered our bet opportunity when we had it.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Re: Rank our season out of 10
Are we rating on our team ability or the season we had.
We were roundly tipped to come 17th
To go form 4w to 9w is an improvement
We are a 3/10 team who had a 6/10 season imo

Re: Rank our season out of 10
Given we got smashed by 2 of the bottom teams in the last 2 weeks and our rotten luck with career ending injury/illness - I think the season was bad enough to justify lethlean to chase a priority pick

Re: Rank our season out of 10
4/10
We won 9 games yet didn't look like a team that improved to win twice as many games as last year.
The same problems, poor skills and decision making going into the forward 50 and kicking for goal.
This attributes to our inability to score and our incredibly low excitement value. We are a boring and frustrating team to watch.
There were some good positives, Marshall of course, Hunter Clarke's emergence and Coffield before he got injured.
Billings had a much better season and took a step forward. Hind and Willie were good finds and with the right coaching Parker could be something special.
As for Ratts, seeing his caretaker role is over, he was a little ruthless after the game yesterday and that maybe a preview of how he might be if he gets the job and that's good because the club needs a rocket you know where.
Well now we have October and November to hopefully get excited about with some recruiting coups.
Here's hoping, because I need something to be excited about next year other than my trip I am planning to Scandinavia.

Re: Rank our season out of 10
Based on the fact i expected us to win 5 games for the season i would say based on expectations it was a 7.
We had injuries to key players, which exposed several fringe players which are not up to it.
We found a couple in Wilkie, Battle as a back, Hind. Billings and Gresham went up a level and the shining light for the season Marshall.
The coach , who was treading water based on the genius that gave him an extension is gone and the shackles taken off a bit.
IMO anyone who had us making finals is too one eyed or perhaps has a substance issue ( LOL).
Obviously if you do it based on the league as a whole then everyone from 9-18 is a 0 but that is a ridiculous way to look at things. For example Melbourne would be a 1 , while say Gold Coast would say around 5 or 6 as many didnt have them winning a game
Overall subjectives but should be based on expectations pre round 1
