Thank the Almighty for that

from sliding door heraldsun.com.au

" St Kilda
If

Rooey and Joey and Dal and BJ keep telling us how much they love Ross The Boss and want him to return as coach ...
then

you need to factor in the silent majority – some of them important people still significantly connected to this club - which doesn't love him. Ross chose to walk when it suited him, and that was OK. But that act, combined with the disastrous past four years at Freo, means he won't be brought back now."

If the usual suspects put in another insipid effort against the Swans I'll be nostalgic for a coach who "held players accountable" --
see Dal and BJ in discussion.

Interesting conversation from about 3:30 onwards. Nicky Dal and BJ just reinforce what most people accept to be true. Grant Thomas integrated the youth when we were bottom of the ladder and helped create a blueprint for success.

To paraphrase Dal; I still believe if we didn't have that 'upbringing' under Grant Thomas we wouldn't have got to 'play the finals that we did' under Ross Lyon.

To paraphrase BJ; Thommo was like a father figure to all of us so he had a pretty big influence on 'not only our footy careers' but also on us as men. Grant laid the foundations.

Any one can take a very very 'good group' and get them playing finals. When Lyon arrived he had been handed a very very 'good group'.

GT brought them together and basically helped bond the core group of young teenagers (and everything that implies with loyalty and trust in each other but most importantly how it benefited the team on field) as well as helping them grow as people and as leaders of their footy club.

Even Richo could probably get a finals ready and proven finals team to do well. The real test is whether you can rebuild after being on the bottom of the ladder for a while. Ross Lyon has shown that he cannot successfully rebuild a club and get them back into finals.

I'm more concerned that Ross is coming back, now that Damo says its not happening.
