If you can believe the trade pundits after the first 2 the trade levels off and and Green is Academy Player
If so then there really is not that much difference in swapping 5 to 10 for Hill.

That’s giving away slightly less than we did for Carlisle, where we gave away pick 5 for 14saintsRrising wrote: ↑Tue 20 Aug 2019 12:27amsilverhalo wrote: ↑Mon 19 Aug 2019 11:14pm Would be happy to part with pick number 5 in the draft for Hill but nothing more than that. Sorry, I did not mean swapping pick 5 for 10.
To make it clear, what I was saying is that picks 5 to 10 are basically equal, and so it does not matter to the Saints really if the Saints swap pick 5 OR 10 (or 6,7, 8 or 9) for Hill. The picks if used by us will on average deliver a player of about the same ability and odds of making it.
The Saints never seem to have great luck in the draft when we finish low down. ie Getting Pick One in a weak draft year. Getting Pick 5 or 6 this year when it probably makes no real difference whether you gain pick 5 or pick 10.
However for Freo Pick 5/6 compared to Pick 10 will have the advantage as it means that they know that you can snap up a Local WA boy with it. Pick 10 might mean that the best WA lads may be gone and you have to pick a Vic yet again.
All in all I would be most happy to swap the unknown for the known quality of Hill. Especially when Hill is very much the type of player we need.

Re: Hill
Maybe we could get him yet preserve our first pick.
Steven to Geelong
Kelly to Freo
Hill to St Kilda
Win, win, win.

So maybe is a no.
Steven is say a second pick (Cats pick is late) now or if we are fortunate a young fringe with upside at the Cats like Constable.

I don't think Lyon is his "missus" though. So he will still want to head back to Vic.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Tue 20 Aug 2019 2:32pm Will Tossa Lyin getting the arse mean Braddles May want to stay put at Freo

Re: Hill
I bought shares in the Saints once. After a while the club just cancelled them......BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Thu 22 Aug 2019 12:29pmInteresting concept.
Private ownership, and offer players shares.
Would certainly ensure they give a s***.

Re: Hill
For those that wish to believe Water Cooler talk - I have it on fair authority that Hill is as into St Kilda as we should be to him.
Apparently only trade deals will hold this one up!

Re: Hill
believe me or don't, believe me, I don't mind but I know the girl who did Brad Hill's girlfriends makeup when they were at a players-only function before the stkilda game in Melbourne 2 weeks ago and he said the offer was closer to 1.1 million a year. His girlfriend is signed sealed moving back to Melbourne and has told him to follow her back. its pretty dependent on the tim kelly/ jack steven deal i believe tho.

I bet its a 3 way deal with our first 2 picks to the Dockers

Re: Hill
Good player but not worth 900k a season.
If it we means we land him, can afford it and it is the beginning of building a decent list then so be it.
With Hanners on 800k? That's a decent whack of the cap. If there's noone else worthy of that coin and the dollars are being managed in a way that we can afford to retain players on greater money as they look at renewals then okay I get it. But I wouldn't throw the bathwater out to get Hill otherwise.
