The Battle mark
Just watching the last 2 minutes video again (and again) we should mention the actions of number 26 for his own thread
There were other heroic efforts during the game however focus on this one
So it has been a bruising game & less than a minute to go...players are tired...battle is in the contest where the ball is shoveled out to Fyfe....Battle sprints with his eyes on the footy for about 30 metres into incoming traffic for the mark & save the game
Simply magnificent.
His growth this year has been great. We have a good one there.

Re: The Battle mark
and with a broken nose!! eyes on the pill all the way - no idea what was coming - that is courage..
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Re: The Battle mark
I was just getting my ducks in order for that Question.
Player | K | H | D | M | HO | FF | FA | T | G | B | AF |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Josh Battle | 12 | 4 | 16 | 6 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 87 |
Oscar Allen | 5 | 5 | 10 | 3 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 6 | 3 | 0 | 82 |
Player | K | H | D | CP | UP | DE% | CLG | M | CM | M50 | HO | CLR | CC | ST | R50 | FF | FA | T | 0.01 | Bo | I50 | G | B | GA | G% | TG% | AF |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Josh Battle | 12 | 4 | 16 | 7 | 7 | 81.3 | 2 | 6 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 100 | 73 | 87 |
Oscar Allen | 5 | 5 | 10 | 4 | 5 | 70 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 3 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 75 | 75 | 82 |
Oscar was playing as a forward - Josh as a backman!
What does he have to do?
He has re-invented himself and would now be considered a walk up start in most teams.
I wonder if the judges actually think he is in-eligible - I cant see why he has not jagged a nom!

Re: The Battle mark
Battle is ranked 8th in the comp for eligible rising star players. The 7 players above him have been nominated, 7 of the 8 below him have been nominated. He's invisible.

Re: The Battle mark
Yep, what a mark!
He sprinted from the loose ball contest to track the ball in flight and was the guy who wanted it most!
Not quite career defining like Roos mark in Sydney, but it was a great one.

Re: The Battle mark
Need Roo, Dal and Spud to spread the word..as well as all the Saints supporters on SEN andother media
It must be a marketing thing with the AFL bosses and hierarchy being involved.
Makes more sense to keep 90,000 WCE fans happy and hopefully they will buy more AFL branded merchandise rather than appeal to a fan base who have only 40,000 members

Re: The Battle mark
Last night on Footy Classified Chicken Wing Eye Gouger nominated Battle's mark as his No 1 critical courageous act of the round.

I think their are some posters here who doubt the latter and some who want to remove the "n una"

Some here doubt you are a fan; and
Some others would want it to read "I am a bashed fan"

Re: The Battle mark
I have been a Saints fan before most on here were born. My father took me to the junction oval before I could walk. I did get your meaning and basically could't give a rats what the anti richo gang thinks, as Blighty would say. I guess that is who you are referencing.
